Why should a Man 8153 not start when warm, starts cold but when stopped you need to let the heater plugs warm again before it starts rather than just turn key, is this normal. Sorry had to put passat as category as man not listed.

SOURCE: vauxhall vivaro wont start cold

Sounds like a faulty cold start assistor. On top of the engine you will find an aluminium housing with four things that look like glow plugs screwed into it. These 'glow plugs' are only available complete with the housing fron Vauxhall. Approx £70 +
Airbag light is probably a fault with the seatbelt pretensioner.
Check the wiring under the seats for damage or perhaps the plugs have pulled apart.

SOURCE: my heater is blowing cold a man mended it but as

sounds like you had air in the system.Check the heater hoses going from the engine into the car.On most cars they have a plastic bleed screw Losen that screw run engine filling the water tank untill you have no air coming out tighten screw check water level. That should do it.If you have not got a plasic screw on the hose just slacken the clips to allow air to escape good luck.Phil.

My 2005 chevy avalanche only blows cold air until i drive then when I stop cold air Agian

One of two things has happened. Either your coolant has gotten really low (easy enough to check) or you heater core is starting to plug up.

My1999 f250 won't start in cold weather unless block heater is plugged in. Even after just sittting for a couple of hours in the cold it takes 9 to 16 rounds of glowplug warmings to start and usually dies...

3-4 years is a long time to run on glow plugs, reason why smokes so bad is you have all that raw fuel from trying to start. Glow plugs have failed, it only takes a few to screw up. but check power to plugs for proper ampherage

Intermittent heat

Hi BSM,

Intermittent heat is usually the result of a low coolant state. What happens is the heater core isn't getting the circulation necessary to keep the air warm. The irony is that your engine will run hotter when this happens.

To fix this, start with a cold engine and open the radiator fill cap.
Start the engine and top off the coolant.
Let the engine keep running and warm up.
When it begins to cycle the coolant check the level again. Top it off again.
Turn the heater on full blast
Keep topping after each cycle until it stops needing fluid.

At that time the heater should be blowing hot air consistently.

Best regards
Mike

When the car is warm after a while it is hard to start, takes a few cranks. when it starts it smells like fuel. on cold start it is fine.

Kinda sounds like the ECM or "start mixture" control module is faulty or is getting a bad input from a sensor. For example, it man not be getting a proper temperature sense from the exhaust manifold or the intake manifold water temp sensor. So, every start seems like a cold start....

If your cold start is on a "cold" engine - fine. If your cold start is on a "warm" engine - problem. Mixture is too rich for a warm engine.

Again, could be sensor sending a bad temp signal... or the control module not responding to the signal.

A bit too complicated a problem to exactly troubleshoot via long distance... but you now have a starting point.... -Jim
