2000 ford excursion v10 driving down the road

2000 ford excursion v10 driving down the road truck just shuts off. when try to start the theft light stays on preventing the starting of truck. wait a while sometimes a few minutes sometimes a few hours truck will start. will inevitably shut down again. My local mech thinks its a computer prob. Dealer thinks its a wiring prob. Any ideas?

Honestly you should send it into the dealer. I don't think guessing will help you. Typically it is a dirty connection into the steering column (behind the ignition key) But diagnostics need to be run and a look at the VSS system (through a good scan tool) is needed to confirm.

When you get it started, is the alternator charging the battery ?

Him trying to put the batterie cables on the batterie to charge it because it's dead but at same time the horn goes on then I take the cable off the the batterie it shuts off nd I wanna know where is the fuse at to remove it but my fuse box dnt have a cover on it so I cant tell which fuse it is

Excursion does not start consistently

Just had the same problem-- I found that the solinoid that mounts on the right side of the fender next to the battery-- a $25.00 standard solonoid --at auto zone-- worked intermitenly-- now it starts -- 100 Percent of the time-- I just luckily found it by placing a 12 volt probe liight on it and sitting at the key with the hood open and watching --

Take you a can of WD40 open each door and spray it into the latch on the on the side of the doors then open and close it a few times,this will take car of the problem most of the time. Start with the driver door first it is usually the one.

2001 V10 FUEL , MY TRUCK WONT START AND WHEN IT DID IT HASITATED

i have a 201 ford excursion for about 2 weeks i could not get it to start in the mornings it was hesitant and would take about 4 tries before it would start. i took it to the dealer and they said the battery was fine i ended up changing all the spark plugs and ignition coils and now the car wont start at all.. please help if anyone knows what it could possibly be.
