You have a vacuum leak. The climate control is hooked to the vacuum ports on the upper intake plenum. Check for leaks there.

you have a vacum leak thats not leting a vent door open.this is tricky.it could be a cracked or loose hose or a broken vacum actuator that contols the door.removing the glove box is probable and removal of part of the duct work is to.if u want to try this yourself e-mail me at [email protected]

yes vacuum lines can cause this when system looses vacuum it defaults to defrost there is a vacuum line going thru firewall usually near blower motor it has direct manifold vacuum on it check it follow it back to source make sure not cracked split or fallen off

yes it is called the blend door, you either have a sticking blend door or the actuator motor for the door is defective and does not completely shut off the heater core. The pass side has it's own blend door.
