Windshield wipers not working and dome light not working on my 1998 f150 all the fuses and relays are good and have no corrosion on the fuse box

Hello. It seems your Ford has a faulty master switch in the door panels (for the windows), a faulty door jamb switches (for the dome light), a malfunctioning multifunction switch (for the turn signal/windshield wipers). Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

I would look for a blown fuse in the fuse box, but that is the easy part. You next will need to determine why the fuse blew.

definately a short somewhere tracing will be tricky but here goes,is there a roof mount aerial above the dome light ? if so take dome light down and check for signs of water ingress ie corrosion on the bare metal parts etc,if no roof aerial move to the fuse box in engine compartment ,take the lid off which will have a list of the fuses/relays look for one's that go with the components acting up check them for corrosion ,will have to remove the fuse/relay to do this ,only take one out at a time so dont get any mixed up,then check the fuses inside car under dash drivers side particulary the window and wiper if nothing found get the OBD codes read and forward me the numbers , this might take you 10 minutes to sort or hours

I had the same problem with a customers one,The motor was the problem.

There is a 30 amp (pink) fuse located in the fuse box located inside the car (see picture below) and it is in the number 11 position in that box. That fuse is for the wiper system there is also a hi/low wiper relay located in the power distribution box located in the engine compartment. It is in the number 1 position (the big number 1 not the diode or fuse). You may want to check that out as well if the fuse is good. The picture for that is also below. Water intrusion causes f150's fuse boxes to corrupt. This is porbably your problem. Mine does the same thing, if you disconnect the fuse to the chime, you will lose your windshield wipers as well.. Check and see if your windshield wipers turn on even with no key in the ignition. Soon your fuses will start blowing left and right. You prbably need a new fuse box. Don't let anyone talk you into replacing it with a used one. My mechanic has replaced it with a used one 5 times to no avail. They were all bad. Afetr paying him almost $300 he refuses to work on it anymore. Even though it still isn't fixed. I even offered to pay the difference for a new fuse box. I have basically been screwed out of $300. So take my advise just pay the $400 for a new one from Ford to save yourself a headache.

check to see if you have corrosion in the fuse box or the GEM module, by removing the fuse box completely, disconnect the battery, take out the two screws and two 8mm bolts that hold the fuse box in, it will take some maneuvering to get it positioned right to disconnect the two wiring harnesses from the fuse box, they are bolted through the middle. Once removed, take the GEM module off the back of the fuse box and look for what would be something like the same corrosion you would see on your battery posts, usually one of these components is corroded and causing the problem, my buddy got a replacement fuse box for his from a wrecking yard for only 15 dollars, with all the fuses and relays. If you have this corrosion, then you probably have a windshield leak at the lower left hand corner of the windshield, it lets water drip onto the fuse box and GEM module. I have the same problem on my 1998 Ext:Cab F-150 the windows wont do anything and my dome light will not light up. Does anybody know what would be causeing this problem

You need to check your Fuses.. It sounds like you blew a fuse that controls Those Items..

i just had the same problem with my f 150 ( 1999), my wipers, washer fluid pump, dome light, door chime stopped, I went thur the manuals, Checked appropated fuses, even changed wiper motor, (nothing worked) out of much internet checking, talking to mechanics, I got frustrated, I started pulling all the fuses under the dash,, I pulled # 15 ,a 5 amp fuse, which has nothing to do with the wipers eletronics, it was a good fuse, when i put it back in, everything came back and working fine. nearest i can figure it was either loose or a dirty contact.

#15 fuse (5 amps) on my box is for : stop lamp switch,( speed control,brake shift interlock,ABS, pcm module inputs.gem module,RABS test connector)
this was just blind luck, maybe it will help you.
