2002 Dodge caravan 3.3L. Code P1491. Replaced with new Radiator fan Relay. Drove for about 5 km, engine light came on again and reader reads ''Code 1491 Radiator Fan Relay Curcuit''. Any help on this dilemma.

the above link contains test info for the circuit. 3 main problems if the fan itself is good: 1 ) corrosion in the relay socket..especially the ground 2) coolant temp sensor bad 3 ) relay bad
Just replacing the relay will not reset the code. You need to reset the code in your computer. If you disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes it should reset.
It is for the radiator fan relay control circuit.It means there is a problem in the cooling fan relay circuit.Could be the relay,wiring,or the fans.Check the fuses and relay over if it looks good then you have to take it in to get it diagnosed.You need a scan tool and you also need to know how to use a multimeter.Hope this helps.Good luck.
P1491 is Radiator Fan Control Relay Circuit. MEANING: An open or shorted condition detected in the low speed radiator fan control circuit.
Some questions for you:
1. Is your Caravan overheating?
2. Is your Caravan water temperature spiking going past the midway point on the Temp Gauge before the radiator is engaged?
3. Is your Rad Fan coming-on and then turning off and back-on in a very short period of time (like under a minute?
If all of these are "No" then do not worry about it.

P1491 means radiator fan relay control cir. .. the best thing you can do is run the car for about ten min.if tac is digital feel it w/ you hand if is hot . is you alternator .if is not digital. take apart the alternator bring it to local autozone have them chek for you . dont forgot to change the relay,,,,,
