3.0 L FI doing a tuneup and noticed 2 ports for hose connections on the air filter box that a previous mechanic had simply connected together with one hose. The rear valve cover for cyls 1,3,5 has a port with a hose connected to nothing, so it shows a lot of dirt inside. It would seem that the valve cover (breather) hose should be connected to either the upper or lower port on the air fliter box. Question is which one and where does the other port terminate? I'm guessing that one hose must terminate to the air since I have not located any available port.

I do not have the solution for you but I will make a suggestion if you do not get an answer from someone else. Find a 2000 Dodge Caravan like yours at a used car lot and pop the hood and take a look. That may be your quickest solution.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
The other hose you are referring to may not be connected to anything for it serves as a breather. But do check the throttle body pipe if it's open. If it is then there it should be.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
