How many wheel bearings per side on 2002 Mazda Tribute?

Is there only one bearing per side on a 2002 Mazda Tribute or two (inner/outer)? When trying to buy replacement bearings on line, only one bearing is shown. I always thought there was an inner and outer bearing.

It could possibly be the wheel bearing. Or it could be an inner or outer tie rod. To check the wheel bearing, jack up that side o the car and try to rock the wheel from top to bottom. If there is any play, the bearing is bad. I there is no play up and down, then try to rock the wheel side to side. Play here usually indicates a bad tie rod.

Is it hard to change the rear whell bearings on 05

You are probably looking at about an hour per side. Brakes and backing plate must be removed. then the mounting bolts for the axle itself must be removed. this operation should be performed one side at a time in order to save the fluid inside the differential casing. It will become imperative that both oil seals are changed with the bearings. P.S. depending on the graciousness of the engineers, you may not have to remove the backing plates. Thank you, Dana
