Need to replace fuel pump on a 1999 jaguar xj8. where is the pump located and can u get 2 it through the back seat or do u have to drop the gas tank.

filter and pump are located in the gas tank. should be access to it under back seat of carl, in trunk or you have drop the tank. pull codes at autozone to make sure its not something else like injector or vacuum leak

The fuel pump is in the gas tank. My info says to drop the gas tank to replace.

if you ran completely out of gas you may have harmed the fuel pump,the gas is what keeps the fuel pump bearings lubricated.there is one thing you can try that has work alot of times in my line of work,the pump could just be stuck and you have one chance to get it going again,have a friend try to start your car while you hit the bottom of the fuel tank with a hammer,sometimes this vibration will unlodge the pump

the gas gauge is not related, that would be a defective gas gauge sending unit in the gas tank, the check engine light indicates that one of around 200 poss faults has occured in the electronic engine controls, you will need to have the OBD 2 engine control system tested for the fualt code that is stored when the light is turned on.

You can check under the seat of the Stratus for an access point. But unfortunately I don't think there is door. You are going to be pulling out the tank.

The only thing i can tell you is to get all the gas you can out of the tank, even if it means droping the tank. Then blow out the fuel line, install new filter, fill up with new gas with a fuel additive that cleans injectors and run it. I believe the worst that can happen is clog up the injectors, witch may not happen if you just run it. Depending on how much sugar was put in it.

You will have to remove your back seat to gain access to fuel pump. Fuel tank is located in trunk. No need to take fuel tank down.

Yes it does have a cut switch, located on the fire wall in the engine compactment. If you push the black button it will reset it. I don't think it's that . I think you should check the fuse, if good you should leave the key in on position or the # 2 position for 5 minutes so the fuel pump can prime the line.
