SOURCE: x-type jaguar automatic (gear box fault)

I have a 2002 X type (2 litre. done 44000 miles), dash showed gear box problem, (red circle light up). I pulled out and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later turned the engine on. The engine running but the car would not drive either in drive or reverse. Turned the engine off again and on the car driving but not much power. The care is taken to the Jag. dealer and told is misfiring + some gear box faults. Suggesting to change some coils and see (cost about £200+). also possible need to change the gear box costing about £2500+. Please advice. Shall I go ahead with the repair? Should I part exchange.

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

ABS fault code

The only problem with this system is that the dealer must calibrate the control module after repair is done, the cause of this may be due to a vacuum leak to booster or fault in brake pedal switch and last a bad booster. I would open the hood and try to see if you can hear a hissing noise or leaking line to brake booster.

ABS C1286

A vacuum leak to booster, a bad booster and last bad switch at brake pedal, again dealer must do control module calibration or light will flash indicating calibration is needed.

DSC fault light is on, also brake fault light, ABS light & traction control light. All came on together. Been advised it's front wheel speed sensor?

Have the car scanned for codes, you must use a scanner capable of reading European cars, anything else is just guessing. get me the codes and we'll go from there, get back to me and we'll solve this problem Thanks Ray

Jaguar 2003 S Type

1 More info needed for disc fault = what are you trying to do to make this disc message appear?

2 The car picture is the dsc switched off - but this message should disappear if the ignition is turned off and on again as the dsc is on by default. If this dsc message keeps reappearing then you may have a fault in braking or sensors that is triggering this message - get it investigated.
