This is a big one! I purchased a 99 ls400 in Florida -very clean, 68,000 miles, Carfax, yada - yada. Drove it back to Manitoba (3000 miles) no problem and had a few minor repairs done at a local Lexus dealer. Also got the service record from the original dealer that verifies mileage and work done - nothing out of the ordinary. The car runs very smoothly for several weeks until Wumpff! Loads of white smoke from tailpipes upon deceleration. Towed to dealer and diagnostic codes say "Burning oil - needs new engine" Dealer says they've never seen this on any ls400 before - lucky me! suggestions??
Smoke is a sign of engine burning oil, which is caused by faulty piston rings, in most cases it's cheaper to have another engine installed in the car, instead of having work done on pistons. Hope this helps and please rate the answer if it was helpful, it helps me, thanks! P.S. Comment if you need more advice, it'll be my pleasure to assist you.
However white smoke isnt a sign over burnt oil buish grey smoke is white heavy smoke that smell s like coolant says blown head gasket or worse you sure the color of the smoke is white and ios it skipping and running like **** doesnt matter anyway youve got to rebuild it or change it
