It depends on what transfer case you have in your vehicle. There are 4 different types. The best way to tell is go into the glove box and on the bottom there is a small decal sticker about the size of a credit card it will have the info you need.Look for the NP codes i.e.NP8.NP1,NP2,NP3or NP8.I`ll give you the G.M.part numbers.NP1,NP2,and NP3, are the same 88861800.NP8 takes Auto-Trak 2 12378508.They take 2 quarts.Hope this helps.Good luck.

It holds 2 quarts. If it has auto 4 wheel drive it takes Autotrack 2 fluid. If it doesn't have auto 4 wheel drive it takes Automatic transmission fluid (dexron 3)

What kind of gear oil is required for my 1992 jeep wrangler 5 speed transmission/transfer case and how many quarts will it require

Transmission generally takes a bit less than two quarts, Use 75/90 gear lube in that (in very cold climates you can add a small amount of automatic trans fluid to keep it flowing on cold starts) Transfer case takes a bit over one quart and takes dextron mercon 3. When filling either, fluid is full when on a level surface it begins to come out of the fill hole while filling. When changing either, always make sure you can open the fill plug before draining so you know you can replace what you removed.

What spec oil is used in the transfer case of a 1996 chev tahoe

The transfer case shows to use Automatic Transmission Fluid. I would personally use a full synthetic transmission fluid as well. I showed three transfer case options for that vehicle and depending on which one you have it will hold anywhere from 1.5 quarts to just a little over 2 quarts depending on which one you have.
