For the 2001 Nissan Maxima 3.0L SFI DOHC V6:
It has a Timing Chain.
Unlike Timing Belts, Timing Chains will normally last the lifetime of the car. However, when it is time to change the Water Pump: it is a really great idea to change the Timing Chain and Camshaft and Crankshaft Sprockets, as you are in the vicinity and have already torn down everything already.
Professionally, but not officially, I like the 100,000 miles rule with Timing Chains.

was the pump timing chain driven!! f so thats probably your problem, timing is off. if all was ok before the job then it is the chain. get a good book, and follow directions carefully if need be. on the nissan it is reccomended to change the timing belt every 60,000 miles.

When does the timing chain for 2002 Nissan Maxima st v6 need to be changed?

You change rubber timing belts, because they wear and could break

You do not change a chain, unless the guides wear or the tensioners hang up,so keep changing your oil every 4000 miles or less and use 0W-30 or 5W-30,synthetic if you can afford it (Mobil 1 leaves the engine real clean inside,( I have pulled a couple oil pans)

For a 2001 nissan xterra when should the timing belt be replaced

On a 3.3L engine V-6, Nissan recommends replacement every 105,000 miles, note that this is an interference engine, that piston to valve damage will happen in the event of a timing belt failure.

Xterra with 2.4L and 4.0L have timing chain only, no timing belt.

When should you change timing chain?

timing chains are not serviced unless the engine is overhauled or the chain breaks, timing belts are replaced on a regular basis, this varies from 60,000-105,000 miles depending on brand and model, u have a chain.

Does the 1996 Nissian Maxium have a timing belt or timing chain?

Just about everything has a timing belt now days, because they are quite. A timing belt is a very important part of your car, it won't run without it, and in many cases if it breaks you will trash your engine in an instant. I'd change every time I change my other belts, I honestly believe that is a good rule of thumb, Your owners manual should tell you what the manufacturer recommends. I hope this helps, I do this for free, and I just want to help people.

When to change timing belt on 1996 nissan maxima

Maximas had a timig belt until 1994. Some Maximas from 1992-1994 had chains also, but only the VE30DE models. All VG30 models had timing belt. Since 1995 all maximas (A32, A33, A34 the all new A35) have timing chains and the rarely/never fail. In fact in my 12+ years with nissan, I have't seen/replaced single timing chain in a Maxima, so pretty bullet proof setup and I have had few of those cars and have one right now. Awesome cars, by the way, just keep up with the oil changes and it will run forever. One of my Maximas had 245000 miles, when I was selling it and I still see it on the road here and there. BULLET PROOF engines.
