Loud squeaking noise from speedometer/odometer

1987 Honda Accord (CA3 model it's called here in Malaysia) with repetitive squeaking sound by the driver seat speedometer dashboard as the car is on the highway (sounds like the squeak while the car is moving at constant speed). Could it be that something (ball bearings) in the speedometer/odometer that needs some lubricating or replacing? The squeaky sound is very high pitched that I can't even hear when I turn my blinkers on. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Car squeaks at idle when warmed up

it could very well be just your serpentine belt is old, they usually squeak when worn. To solve that you can buy a spray at any local autoparts store to stop the noise for good, its called belt dressing. a slurping noise could be a range of things, the most common is your
a/c isn't fully charged with fluid, the noise your hear is the compressor trying to pull more fluid in **** only getting air, hence the slurping

I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX sedan and the speedometer just stopped working. My mechanic just put in a transmission that he bought from a junk yard. How do i fix this problem?

I have a 99 accord and my speedometer and odometer did not work. The problem was the VSS vehicle speed sensor. The VSS is located on the transmission. Once I replaced it everything worked fine.

1995 honda accord speedometer and odometer not working

Sounds like either your speedometer cable, your nylon gear on the side of the tranny where the cable ties in, or the odometer itself is shot. One of those three will set you straight. If you are able, remove the cluster, take the cable off the back, and pull it out of the sheath. You will see if its broken or not from there. If not, slide it back into the sheath, then you have to find out where the sheath meets the tranny, and pull it off of there. Then, you can get someone else to watch the speedo as you turn the cable from the bottom. If it works, great, if not, then its your cluster/odometer/speedo. If it does work, the small gear in the transmission is shot.

1995 Honda Accord LX -- odometer failure

Has the speedometer failed to?? if so, you are probably in need of the cable that runs from your transmission to the back of the speedometer. This item is called the speedometer cable. If just the odometer itself failed then you have to pull the cluster and have it serviced typically i take mine to the dealer if that happens. (just the cluster, not the whole car.) hope this helps.

try resetting the trip meter. if that doesn't work you need to replace the speedometer head. i have seen this problem a lot especially when the 94 accord was new and replaced a few speedometer heads.
