I recently bought a merc 230e w123 and what I would like to know is where I fill the gearbox oil and is it advisable to use th ATF oil and secondly it is an automatic transmission and goes on high rave...

this car has no seperate filler as you fill it by pouring the atf down the dipstick tube,(really).because of the age of this car it is advisable to get the filters renewed/oil flushed and refilled.automatics should have the oil/filters changed about 100k/10 years.

I have a W124 230E has idling problem, and sometimes it goes off

Most likely caused by a dirty throttlebody! Remove the intake hose to the throttlebody and clean around the inside and the butterfly valve as well with some brake clean or similar product! Throttlebodies get gummed up by carbon build up effectively closing off the idle airgap under the butterfly valve!
