Question about 2003 Jaguar S-Type

2 Answers

My 2001 Jaguar S Type has no acceleration above 3k RPM when is in neutral. When running at 40MPH hesitates, above 45 runs smooth (flat surface), uphill at any speed starts hesitating. Engine light comes on but code won't register in the computer. Replace fuel filter and nothing has changed. Any ideas?

Engine will not rev above 3000rmp in neutral or park its a safety feature ,as for the driving problems i honestly havent a clue ,but if its a 2001 model then maybe the ford software will read this car ,after all it is a ford or was till recently.Wondering if something stupid is wrong like the plug leads ??or the wrong grade of spark plugs

High idle

Vacuum leaks or fuel pressure, or ECM.
When you press the accelerator you allow more air into the engine. The same extra air can get into the engine through leaks in the Vacuum system. Sometimes using a spray bottle of water and spraying the seams of the Intake manifold on a running engine can reveal the opening. Also spray any Vacuum lines and the Brake booster. A leak will change the RPM.
A high fuel pressure can cause an increase in RPM.
ECM- has a lot to due with timing and fuel demands.
Binding Linkage. Disconnect the throttle linkage and see if the RPM drops. If it does not, shut off the engine and work the Air horn Butterfly and check for smooth operation. It is possible that a mounting screw on the Butterfly shaft has slipped and the flap is binding or dirty.

Ur shift solenoid on ur transmissions are acting up. Run a scan to know the exact ones. A number of other things could be bad as well. A standand scan tool should tell you this.

Hi, have Ford or Lincoln or Jaguar technician check C.O.P (Coils on Plugs). Now the 2003, 2004 and 2005 models have extended factory coverage to 10 years / 100,000 miles. Information is covered in a Customer satisfaction Program -07M07 from July 2007 that covered the 2003 year. A updae to this Program 07M07, Supplement #1 dated May, 2008 extended the coverage to include the 2004 and 2005 models. The 2003 coverage is for coils and gaskets.
