Service egine light keeps coming on after we reset

Service engine soon light is on indicating a problem with your engine. Take it to somewhere like Autozone (it is free to check code) to see what the code and problem is, then fix the problem or the light would just keep coming on every time till it is fixed.. You must get the engine control computer scanned for fault codes, this is the first thing that must be done before any diagnostics can be done to find the problem that has put the engine in "LIMP" mode.

You need to have PCM / ECM - engine computer checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes an go from there ! there are hundreds of codes these newer vehicles can set ! a lot of times you actually have to drive the vehicle in order for the engine light to reset. sometimes you can have the engine light reset with a scan tool unless a hard-fault code thenone has to do was known as the drive cycle.this could very firm anywheres to 72 150 miles depending on the manufacturer.

yes you will need to reset

your local auto zone can read your code. you will need this code to trouble shoot, as there are many things that can cause this. your toyota is obd1 so call and ask if they can read your code before driving out there in your vehicles condition. most just have obd2 scanners (1996 and newer)

there is a really cheap tool its about 60$ Its called an OBD tool you get it at the AUTOPART store and plug in under steering wheel dash
