do u hav any $$ left-u went rong way-------cud be vacuum leak-some are hidden like on egr valves--but test idle air control and tps 1st--located at throttle body--buy a repair book or library sec629
This could be a Vacuum line broke or not installed. I changed fuel injectors on mine and forgot to install one vacuum hose on the Rubber intake near the throttle body, with the same exact symptoms. If you have done any work recently just double check that all the lines and hoses are attached in their correct positions. If you have not done any work recently to is, it may be possible for a hose to break and become detached and not allow it to idle. This is my only experience with these symptoms, hope it helps
have a 97 crown vic,
in warm weather it idles fine and run fine
now that its cold I have to hold at high idle to have warm up
for about 10 mins.
if I just start it the engine will die with out me holding on foot on the gas
I think a top end cleaning would be of value to you.
1. Remove inlet hose and clean with carb spray 2. Start car and rev up to about 2,000 rpm and feed more carb spray for a moment or two. It may not even want to run without a fight when you are doing this part. 3. With engine running, open throttle (wide open throttle) and hold hand over inlet and then take your hand away and allow it to flow again and release the throttle. Don't over rev it, you just want to create a vacuum state in the intake that will remove carbons, etc. Do this open throttle and cork it with your hand about 6-8 times. Then reassemble anything you took apart.
This trick removes stubborn gunk in the intake by loosening it with carb spray first and creating a vacuum to dislodge it. Expect a little black smoke when doing this trick.
