Good advice from sundog kid , ,,, you will also need the radio code it is ususlly lost while changing battery, There are code keeper kits that plug into the cigarette lighter for example that retain the radio code (if unknown) . ie two wire power feed into lighter assy from slave battery. Worst case senario VW dealership will have radio code ,,, for a small fee ! !

No, it is quite easy - remove battery cover by appyling pressure on the covers latches. you will need a ratchet and extension to loosen the battery grip at the bottom of the battery tray, I believe its a 14 mm socket.

I reset my dodge grand caravan because the alarm kept going off when i changed battery.

There is not such thing as a 'hard reset' on a vehicle. That terminology is used on phones. Get your digital multimeter out. Check the voltage of the battery. Check you have full continuity between the ground post of the battery and a clean bolt on the engine. Test the output of the alternator.

Based on your original post, it prompted me to write this Tip on changing batteries. It was published 5 minutes ago. The grey square should have shown a cleaning brush.

2002 Chevy tahoo changed oil an replaced battery now won't start

Recheck battery connections. Make sure its connected correctly. Make sure clamps are tight and clean. A poor connection can prevent it from starting. I have a hard time believing that an oil change can cause the issue.

Do a battery hydrometer test on all the cells. Verify that the battery is the correct size for your car. Make sure battery terminals are clean and tight.

2000 GMC Jimmy turns over hard like it is the battery, but changed out the battery and starter, still no change, turns over hard maybe 2-3 turns and then that's it.

you may need to shim the starter it may be binding on the the flywheel because its not lining up evenly.sort of like drilling a hole at the wrong angle and trying to straighten it while your still drilling.or its possible your flywheel is warped.hope that helps

Battery replacement

Car Batteries last 3-6 years possisble longer/Shorter - Depends on alot of things, 2005 Vehicle the battery is 4 years old. I would clean the battery termals and have a local shop load test the battery for you. If the battery is weak it is best to change the battery now than have you charging system working hard to charge a weak battery adding more cost to a repair later or a no start on a cold morning.
