1988 ford f150 302: heavy hesitation.

1988 ford f150 302: When i punch the throttle I get a heavy hesitation, sometimes even stall but when i slowly throttle up everything is fine. Idle is normal for a truck that age (little ups and downs b/w 750 and 1100 rpm) any suggestions for a lead food?

no check engine.... haven't done too much yet except plugs, wires, cap, rotor and cleaned the throttle body. I was going to do fuel filters next and if that didn't work, assume it's an evap issue. It's a rough engine cut out, has happened at 55 on the highway.

Check engine light? Have you checked fuel pressure?

  • Anonymous Apr 11, 2010

If you haven't done the fuel filter do that first. Check the fuel pressure if the filter doesn't work.

1988 chevy S-10 Stalls out, has a late and hesitant responce when give gas runs terrible

Any check engine light? If check engine is on, you could diagnose by fault code. If not, I would try throttle position sensor.

What causes hesitation on a 1988 ford crown victoria so far i replaced wires, plugs, air filter, distributor cap

Check for the vacuum tee in the rear to have a hole in it,it may even be sucked together, and it could be the throttle position sensor.

1988 ford f350 diesel stalls when u let throttle off instead of ticking over if u let throttle off slowly it ticks over if u let throttle off quickly it cuts out

It sounds like your throttle position sensor TPS might be out or faulty. Check your throttle and idle sensors and se if one is bad.

I have a 1988 pontiac firebird with a 2.8 v6 fuel injected engine that displays code 32 and 34. We have changed the plugs, plug wires, rotor, and dist. cap and have also replaced the mass air flow (maf)...

Check throttle position sensor (TPS) is a sensor used to monitor the position of the throttle. The sensor is usually a potentiometer, and therefore provides a variable resistance dependent upon the position of the valve. The sensor signal is used by the engine control unit (ECU) as an input to its control system. The ignition timing and fuel injection timing (and potentially other parameters) are altered depending upon the position of the throttle, and also depending on the rate of change of that position. For example, in fuel injected engines, in order to avoid stalling, extra fuel may be injected if the throttle is opened rapidly (mimicking the accelerator pump of carburetor systems). the cost about 50-75 bucks.
