How do access the battery on a 1994 bmw 530i? I understand that it is under the passenger side, rear seat. How do I remove the rear seat? There is one, small plastic access panel, I remove that and there is one 10mm bolt.

If Im not mistaken the battery is under the rear seat bottom on the passenger side of the car there should be a release handle or a access panel that will allow you to move the seat bottom to get to the battery. hope this gives you sopme help.
The location of the battery in the BMW 525i series is under the back seat on the
passengers side. To access the battery, grab under the front portion of the
back seat and pull upward with some force. There are two slips into
which the seat is secured. One on the passenger side and one on the
drivers side, again in the front of the back seat. There is not one in
the center.
There are 2 fuse boxes, they are called Bussed Electrical Centers.
The front Bussed Electrical
Center (This is one fuse box) is located in
the front of the engine
compartment on the
passenger’s side. Lift the
cover to gain access
Rear Underseat Bussed Electrical Center (BEC)
The rear BEC is located
beneath the rear seat on the
driver’s side. The rear seat
cushion must be removed to
access the BEC. See
“Removing the Rear Seat
Cushion” in the Index.
I found the owners manual and it says take it back to BMW!
Most other posts I found on the net say it is under the passengers side rear seat. But I guess that depends on if you have a right hand or left hand drive.
It is located on the right side of your trunk. First lift off the trunk lining then pull out the side lining to reveal the battery among a bunch of wires. Be sure to reconnect the vent (on the front side of the battery-it is housed in a small gray tube connected to a black elbow) this will prevent gas from the battery building up in the trunk. follow this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/debbieandmarc/sets/72157612417073268/
Look on the passenger side at the firewall and fender junction. In the attached picture, see at the lower left side. You need to remove the black plastic battery cover about 9"x7" located there, then you'll be able to see how the battery restraint works if you need to remove.
The title says 1994 525, and this is where tha battery is for '94, probably in the same place '91, if not look for a 10"x7" plastic cover elsewhere in the engine compartment.
The fuel pump on a 3 series BMW is located under the rear seat. To access it you will need to remove the lower part of the rear seat by pulling it up. Then an oval shaped cover on the passengers side should become visible. Under this cover is the fuel pump. I would suggest taking the cover off and inspecting for signs of replaced parts. (new parts should be shiny ;)
