2005 caravan all the guages and warning lights are flashing on and off when shut the van off you have to jump it off the more you rev the engine the worse it flashes

  • Anonymous Jul 20, 2012

The lights would flicker on the dashboard. My guages would go all over the place. Power door locks would not work. It would completely die. I went to the parts store in town and they checked the alternator and the battery (FREE OF CHARGE) and they told me that they were both ok. Turns out it was the battery terminal. So, I purchased a kit from the parts store and cut the cable (on the positive side) about an inch from the terminal and hooked it all together. I am having no problems at all now.

We had a similar situation with our 05 Grand Caravan, and the remedy was a new ignition switch.

The radio would come on by itself when no one was around, and dash lights would do crazy things.

Check engine light comes on, but computer shows no problem?

Do not shut off the Van and check the lights.... Did you have your Transmission serviced lately? Common problem with this transmission.

Your problem could quite possibly be an internal issue with PCM/ECU

2005 grand caravan fuel problem

Theres a problem in the Fuel pump. Do you have a check engine light with codes?? If not go to any good auto part store & have them scan for codes for FREE. Auto Zone does this & others. This would help on my end. But sounds like the fuel level sending unit which is part of the fuel pump & can be replace sepreat from the intire unit. It's cheaper. You still have to drop the fuel tank to get to it

Dodge Grand Caravan 2005 P0016 code

Im assuming it is an engine that uses a timing belt. It sounds like the belt has jumped 1 tooth. if it only jumped 1 tooth than the computer will compesate the timing so it is possible the sensors will say they are ok. If it is a motor that uses a chain than it problaly needs a new gear/chain set.

Engine issues

You would have to repeat the problem with the scanner hooked up and someone who knows what he's doing watching it. If the check engine light came on then a code will be stored.

98 Grand Caravan Sport oil light and Warning Bell

My friend that alarm is telling you u have low oil pressure, do you want to destroy the new engine?? Find out if the eng really has low oil pressure, it may just be a defective oil press sending unit causing the alarm, have the press checked with a mechanical guage or just replace the sender and see if that cures the issue, the alarm is part of the Body Control Module and can't be disconnected.

Dodge caravan 1998 start problem (alarm set) ,the instument panel is not working and if i start , after 3-4 tryes,is shuting down in 3 seconds, any help?

I have had the same trouble with my 1998 Dodge Caravan, so has my neighbor on both of his caravan vans and We have found that if we slap down on the dash above the temperature gauge it will work just fine.

we both lose speedometer and fuel guages too! Same fix

about once a month I will have to slap it, to get my guages back, and stop the alarm.

I believe it is a bad soldiering connection in the dash but it is not worth chasing it down when I can get by without it.

when the post said the van worked fine after being towed it is because the connection was made while the van was jostled around being loaded and transported
