I got my oil changed three days ago now my check engine light is on but it turned on today. Car sounds normal and has no funny/odd smells. It had a little challenge turning over yesterday when I started it but only the one time, its had no problem since. What could this be? Is it something to check out immediately or can I wait until my day off?
Your "check engine" light is an emission light. Oil is fine. You have to find the code to check whats wrong. Usually an engine light is just a tiny problem, but in other cases it could be anything from a sensor, to a bad cat converter. With a check engine light on a vehicle will not pass smog tests. You can turn it off by unhooking your pos side to the battery for about 3 min. Then you will have to drive it 30 miles non stop for the computer to put the code back in and the light will come back on
