2003 Chevy Trailblazer LT gear shift won't move out of park

I start my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer LT without any problems along with pushing down on my brakes. Once I try to move the gear shift from park to reverse or drive the shift is stuck so that I am unable to push the button in and it can not be moved from park to any other gear. After several tries I was able to get it out of park and it was able to shift to any of the other gears without any problems. For some reason it just gets stuck in park. Any assistance you could provide would be very helpful.

My chevy trailblazer wont shift from park to drive.

chances are the shift cable is broke at the transmission, I drilled the rod out of the shift lever and ran a shoulder bolt through the shift lever and cable end and finished up with a lock nut.

2003 trailblazer shift cable broke loose, now tranny is in nuetral but shifter is stuck in park position, thus i now am unable place end of shift cable back on because it dosent line up! please help!

Ok, here is what you do, slide under vehicle, locate shift lever on side of transmission rotate counter-clockwise two clicks, pop shifter on, hop back inside turn key on depress brake pedal and check shifter, if it falls off again replace cable assembly they do not sell individual bushings, and get cable from dealer.

My husband turned off our Chevy Trailblazer without putting it in gear and now it won''t start and the gear shift is lock up. What do you do to fix it????

first make sure battery isn't dead because if he cut it off in gear then the switch couldn't cut the power off and it'll run the battery down and there is a electrical solenoid that allows the shifter to move if theres no voltage than the shifter want go into park and the ignition switch want turn off.

my car got stuck in park several times, i'm the brake lights would come on but i couldnt push the button to make my car move out of park...there's a tab on the right side at the top of the gear shifter console pop it out, stick a skrew driver down in and that should release it if that's your problem...it's a little bit of a rig, but it works, havent been stuck in park since

I parked my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer in my driveway and now my shifter is locked in the park position. I cannot shift out of the park position even depressing the brake when the vehicle is on. It is locked...

If it is floor shift it has a soloind under the cover not to hard to remove, you have to memove the whole thing bolt in front cupholder and inside armrest storage. once it has removed there is a soloind in there that mounts on the shifter. this goes bad alot. Push the button on the silver soloind button this will release it into gear. Hope this helps. ( Usually he black soloind goes bad)

Engine will not turn over or start when in park with key on.

You linkage is working properly it sounds like, especially if the indicator for "D, R, N", etc are lining up. However the linkage or the neutral safety switch may need to be adjusted. More than likely, it's your neutral safety switch.

The brake pedal release has nothing to do with the neutral safety switch when switching gears.

The brake pedal release is just a safety to prevent you from pushing the gear shifter accidentally. Actually, you should be able to start the truck without holding the brakes.

If the neutral safety switch is bad or misaligned, it'll do exactly what you're describing. If pulling it down in neutral starts the truck, then that's a sure indicator.
