I have a 2002 Rodeo Automatic Transmission with 78,000 miles. I just noticed I am feeling a heavy slip in the transmission when putting it in gear. Is there anything I can check before taking it to a shop?

Just the fluid level. look underneath the truck for leaks. level should be ok if its dry under there.

2002 xc70 when going from park to drive can feel a **** into gear , no other signs of slippage in other gears or while driving . The car has been faithfully serviced and the transmission fluid changed

I feel you should go to a reputable mechanic. Ask for him to check it out. this could be a serious problem but maybe not. Get it checked before you lose all drive power.

I'm having transmission problems on my 2002 Isuzu rodeo first gear is really slow but as soon as it gets to second and up its ok.

If that is an automatic & if the fluid has not been
changed every 3 years since it was new, then it's
done,pull it & rebuild it

Sounds like it is slipping in first gear, the fluid should
smell bad as well

Ihave a 1997 mazda protege and after having it for a week I noticed the transmission will slip when going into 3rd gear (automatic transsion) the fuid is brown and I was worried about really messing things...

.One of the most common causes of a slipping transmission is a low automatic transmission fluid level, also a dirty and/or clogged automatic transmission filter can impede the normal flow of automatic transmission fluid throughout an automatic transmission and cause the transmission to slip. Adequate, unobstructed transmission fluid flow is necessary for the optimal operation and function of an automatic transmission, including the function of the transmission bands and gears, two transmission components that routinely cause transmission slippage.Another cause would be faulty torque converter action and maladjusted transmission band.

Transmission, not wanting to go in gear

After replacing a transmission on one Rodeo for that problem, I discovered there is a transmission control module located on top of the transmission on the driver's side. Two bolts disconnect it. Wipe off the old electric grease, and put on new electric grease. Reinstall the part. I have now driven 30,000 miles on this fix. Needless to say, I was very unhappy with AAMCO. If your rodeo starts having that problem, drive only in third gear until you can fix this part. Planetisuzoo is very detailed on this fix.

Gearbox feels like it slips.

You indicated 1st gear. Is this a manual or automatic - as you didn't state that.

What do you mean by "it feels like its going to fall out"? What are the symptoms?

Have you check the level of transmission fluid?

Can the transmission be serviced or is it one of thos "life-time fills"? If it can be serviced and its an automatic, the first thing I would do is check the level of fluid. If its a manual transmission, I would do the same thing, but it would most likely be the clutch or throw-out bearing.
