How do you get the hatchback open on a 1999 Plymouth gr voyager when the outside handle won't work?

I am not an expert on those vans, but will try to help.

I don't recall what years hat it, but there may be a small plastic disc plugging a hole just above the latch on the inside. If so, pop out that disk and use a screwdriver to lift the latch mechanism. It should not take a great deal of force to move the latch. When the latch moves, push the door and it should open.

The hatchback/boot door tends to open itself on occasions and also be difficult to shut

I suspect that the problem is a badly adjusted latch mechanism.. Try that first. Make sure that any cable opening or electric opening latch is properly locking

My Honda Accord latch is broken. I can not open the gas tank door and the trunk won't close. It has to be a problem in the latch because it controls both gas tank door and trunk door

emergency release should be in the trunk as for the closing of the trunk, you need to disconnect the cable at the trunk latch until you can get it fixed

Hatchback won't lock on saab 9-3

I had the very same problem with my 2002 Saab 9-3 after I manually moved the trunk latch to the locked position "out of curiosity..." Then I noticed there is a handle you can pull to release latch opening it up! Very simple remedy... It is a glow in the dark green plastic handle hanging down when the trunk/hatch is open dead center, just in slightly behind latch... Gently pull handle until you hear and see the latch click into the open position...Let me know how You make out. BTW: Toyota Camry has the same set up,same color as well...lol Good Luck!

HOW TO OPEN HATCH BACK LOCK, IF ITS BROKEN

the sequoia hatchback handle breaking is a known problem due to the extremely low quality of the plastic. 1st you have to open the back door! there is a small pin to the right side of the hatchback door exterior handle. bend a coat hanger and put it on the small pin, pull down and the door will open. Then remove inside panel and you can undo screws and replace the hatchback door handle.
