I have a 2007 volvo xc90 that was involved in an accident. The vehicle won't start. When I turn the key it won't turn the engine and I unhooked the fuel line to see if it is sending fuel however my fuel pump won't work. I suspect it is a Emergency Fuel Shut-Off Device that has to be reset. Can anyone tell me where it is located on a volvo xc90. thank you

I do have to ask you as most vehicles work have you tried to disconnect the negative battery terminal? This will reset your PCM which controls the entire electrical system of the vehicle. What you need to do is leave the negative terminal off the battery for about half an hour. Try this and let me know if this works for you. I'm sorry im not a Volvo mechanic but i am a general motors mechanic and this is the fix for most vehicles. I really think and hope this will work for you!
There is going to be a wire on your fuel rail... you will need to disconnect this wire for 5 minutes and then plug it back in and this should reset your fuel system.
Your fuel rail is going to be the metal line that is on top of your fuel injectors.
what if the ignition switch gets desabled cause im dealing with same issue but im not getting no crank at all power comes on but no crank to starter

On the fuse box / relay plates - fascia 2, (located above pedals on the driver's car side), you will find No.30 relay = Fuel leakage control relay.
I do not find any Emergency Fuel Shut-Off Device that has to be reset on Volvo XC90 3.2 AWD (2007).
The Engine Control Module (ECM) was itself turned self-acting in crash mode because the car was involved in an accident. Therefore ECM shuts down the fuel & ignition, and must be reseted using professional diagnostic equipment connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC) of the car.
This is the only one way to restart the engine.
Hello! I'll have a solution for you shortly...System is down (5 AM EDT)
As soon as problem is cleared I'll contact you...

The fuel reset doesn't cause the engine to stop turning. There is a device that does shut it off and one is if the air bags deploy - the other is a sensor that has to be reset.
If the engine compartment has been compromised it won't start either.
Remove the battery negative side and re-attach it - this will reset the onboard computer.
There is a fuel reset in the car as well and it is in the trunk - pull back the carpet on the passenger side and you will see it.
Hi again,
I am awaiting your reply as to the engine being clear to turn over. Also as a follow up- Check the positive cable and the battery. A likely problem is the battery cracked as well.
I will be hoovering here until we find the problem. If you need to send a photo let me know. Can you send a photo via phone? IF you want to let me?
Gary
I am networking on your problem with 3000 mechanics and want you to know we will find an answer and get it to you. Meanwhile - if the air bags deployed the car will not start until they're reset. Did the bags deploy?

I have read your problem the past two days and can never get this far as of yet till today. I guess a lot of people are trying their best to help you although nothing has help you so far.
I see that you mentioned that upon turning the ignition key the starter did not function. If this is your problem it can be one of two things. The wire leading to the solenoid has a fusable link that is spliced into the wire inches away from the solenoid mounting stud. If you have a ohm meter you can check for continuity from the solenoiids mounting stud and probe the wire a foot away from the stud. If no reading in numeric form is present there is your short. Set the meter to the 200 setting. .. An open on the meter will display OL meaning open line. If you do receive a reading such as 0000 or above the wire has a good connection. The other fault will be the starter switch mounted on the transmission. I do not know anything about the cars damage and were it was hit at so I am thinking this accident was a fairly hard hit to cause any kind of a short. Turning the key and no sound from the starter tells me no current. Upon turning the key on you should hear the fuel pump ticking away for a few seconds at least. If so I do beleive the fusable link has been compromised in the accident
If the solution did not work, try turning the key on,and wait 10 minutes exactly, then turn it off, then back on,leave it on for 10 minutes,do this one more time, then try to start it,This is a total of 30 minutes,It will relearn the fob.
You can reply to these and ask questions, did you try to relearn the fob,and reset the anti theft? Look for a fusible link,or blown fuse, also check the battery to see if the battery will check good on a load test.
To my knowledge there is not a reset, there could be damage to just about anything,Turn the key on,see if the car will start in neutral .If there is no fuel pressure, and there is no starter engagement, then it is not just a reset to fix the problem.Check all these things out.
immobilizer has triggered plain and simple

First, try unhooking battery, leave for a few minutes, and re hook up, that should work.. if it doesnt check your fuse box diagram to see if the fuel pump fuse is blown, if not,
sometimes The fuel shutoff switch is behind the trunk liner on the left side in a . There is either a flap in the liner or a hole you can put your finger through to access it.
To reset the switch, on top of the switch there is a round area with a spring loaded button. Push down on this button. If the switch was triggered, it will make a click sound as you push. If you hear the click, it is now reset.
sometimes it is under the rearseat
im working on finding a diagram for your vehicle, please post your email or email me at [email protected] and i will get it to you in the morning :) Thanks

Hi! Just a tip regarding the issue. Please try to look underneath the dash if there are any fuses related to the ignition and fuel pump. If no luck please open the hood and you can see a relay or fuse box. Theres usually a code there what relays are for, If you can find the relay for the fuel pump please try to pull it and re insert it for it may have tripped during the accident for safety purposes. If the relay doesnt work after you reinserted it then i suggest you replace the relay. Hope this helps and have a good one!
This information about a possible fuel pump cutoff switch and its location on the car is contained in the owners manual, the download is free at the Volvo site but you must rtegister your car to use the site and download the free PDF Format owners manual. Go to the link below and register your car.

I can't register your car for u, do u want this info or not?? come on here do a little foot work. I have looked and there is no indication this has a fuel pump cutoff switch.
If it isn't in the manual then it doesn't have a cut off switch, didn't think it did. Are u sure it has no fuel pressure? the pump could have been damaged during the accident.
Yes a $135 an hour shop can diagnose this, or you can get a wiring diagram, and how is u know the pump is ok, u have it out??
I AM AN EXPERT (45 YEARS) AND I KNEW THERE WAS NO SHUT OFF, NEEDED YOU TO READ IT FOR YOURSELF, MOST PEOPLE ARE PRETTY HARD HEADED ON THIS KIND OF STUFF. WELL GOOD LUCK HERE, BUT THE SOONER YOU EITHER GET A DEALER INVOLVED OR HAVE A VOLVO CERTIFIED SHOP CHECK THE PUMP CIRCUIT THE SOONER U WILL HAVE A WORKING CAR AGAIN.
there is no fuel reset switch on this make and model.

i wasn't able to find the info. in the owners manual
pump was not damaged. There must be some type of switch/fuse as both the starter will not turn unless i bypass it manually and the fuel pump doesn't send fuel. I need someone who has worked on volvo's to answer this question
I need a volvo expert to answer question please

i already tried disconnecting the negative terminal and it didn't reset
already used different relays from a working vehicle and did nothing
all the fuses have been checked and are ok
where is the fuel rail
only a volvo mechanic will know the difinitive answer to my problem.
ye i figured that one out, i'm having a friend with a diagnostic computer come and clear all the codes and that should do it.
where exactly is that reset that you're talking about. can you give me a more accurate pinpoint as i already have the whole rug out of the vehicle. thanks
airbags did deploy, however the car should start with airbags deployed as i've seen many volvo xc90's with deployed airbags and vehicle starts. My vehicle rolled over on it's side and i'm thinking that it triggered some type of fuel shut off but don't know if i will need a volvo computer to reset it or if i can reset it manually
