I had my car stored for 6 months, battery disconnected and when I reattached it inside lights etc. came on but not enough juice to turn it over. Attached a battery charger which charged the battery to 80% then all went dead. I checked the small fuses in the fuse box and all ok. There are two large silver fuses on the left of the box. I think they're 20 amp fuses. Is there a way to tell if they have blown? Any other ideas what might have happened? Thanks

Newer cars need to see at least 10.5 volts to operate. A new battery has 12.6v. fusses would not have blown while you were charging the battery unless you hooked up the connections wrong. usually if you saw a lot of sparks than i would say it was a fuse. but in your case, it just sounds like you need a new battery. when you store a battery again try and recharge it every month. once car batteries go completely dead they will sulfate and nothing can bring them back. diesel and watercraft batteries are the only deep cycle batteries and they can be run to nearly no charge and be brought back. hope this helps

My buick lesabre is having problems starting. the battery is charged, the lights come on when i turn the key but when i try to start it all i get is a click. what is the problem and how can i get to where...

Typically a battery can power the lights, etc. and still not start the car when it is "bad". The clicking is the starter not getting enough juice from the battery. Jump start the car and go to an auto parts store and get the battery checked. I suspect it will need replacing. In my 2002 the battery is under the back seat but there is a jumping post under the hood.

Car wont start but lights work and starter lights flash on and off

You likely have a dead battery of a bad starter. Does it click when you turn the key?
BATTERY: There may be enough juice to runs some lights but not enough to actuate the solenoid.
SOLENOID: This is a switch that controls the juice to the starter on your engine. It makes a click when it is first engaged. If it is not working correctly, your starter cannot get juice and won't engage.
STARTER: If the starter is too far gone to even make a revolution, then it is time to replace it.
Many auto parts stores will test batteries and starters for free, but the trick is getting there!

(1997 GMC Jimmy) Battery will randomly go dead

I would check for a draw. You can do this by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and hooking a test light from the cable to the battery. The light will be on if something is taking power off of the battery such as, dome light, glove box light, radio ect. make sure to have doors shut and everything off when you do this so it wont give you a false reading. If the light is on, you have a draw. if it is off you dont have a draw. Then from there you can figure out where the draw is coming from by opening the drivers door and accessing the fuse panel(OPENING THE DOOR WILL KEEP THE LIGHT ON BECAUSE IT WILL OPEN TH ECIRCUIT FOR THE DOME LIGHT, YOU CAN TAPE OR HOLD THE SWTICH INSIDE THE DOOR JAMB TO CLOSE THE CIRCUIT)when you access the fuse panel you can pull each fuse 1 at a time until the light goes off, when the light goes off. check what the fuse is for, that is where your draw is coming from. Common draws come from a faulty radio or glove box light stays on.

Car wont start

Incorrect, it's probably the battery. It has enough juice for the lights, but it needs lots of juice to start the engine. Get the battery checked at your local auto parts store, they do it for free.

2003 focus won't start

Even though the radio works the battery is your problem. It doesnt have enough juice to start the car. you will have to take it out of the car and have it tested to make sure. Any auto parts store will test it free of charge. Poor quality cables will not jump a battery with that low of power. I learned that the hard way with my impala.

I was driving home and all of a sudden all of the warning lights started to flash on and off...battery showed little to no juice. I did make it home, but as soon as I turned the car off and tried to turn...

Ladytkk:

The clicking sound is the starter solenoid (a relay) trying to connect the starter to the battery. This is normal when the battery is run down. the first thing to do is to see if you can charge the battery.
If you do not have a charger, see if you can borrow one. BTW, a small charger is a good thing to have, especially if lights or etc are left on and your battery is dead when its time to go to work. You can get a small one at a Walmart like store for a reasonable fee. Connect the red lead of the charger to the red (+) terminal of the battery and the black lead of the charger to the black (-) lead of the battery. Let it charge for at least 5 or 6 hours. Unplug the charger, disconnect it from the battery and try to start the car. It will probably start. At first opportunity, drive the car to one of the major auto parts stores like AutoZone and have them load test the battery. If you need a new battery, most stores will install it right there.

Hope this helps Good luck Loringh Please give me a rating Thks
