Dashboard lights on my 325i automatic 1993 come on intermittently

There is a light control module under the dashboard near the radio. It provides interior lighting delay and automatic interior light function. When this module fails, the back lights and key lights will remain on.

check the headlights auto unit for a malfunction

sound like cluster going out but if all dash lights go out and car stop running you have faulty alternator.

That is listed in the owners manual. We have access to free manual downloads for most cars, but not BMW's, they want us to buy it.
