If the passkey is messed up, there will be a light on the dash that says security, or have a picture of a car with a lock thru it. If there is no light when the key is turned forward, then its NOT a passkey problem.

SOURCE: Security light comes on and

There is no relay or reset. The security light is on because the system has failed. 1 or more of the parts involved is not functioning properly and creating a break in the antitheft communication. The best way ive found to beat this is to just bypass the whole system. Go to this link and read about it. There is a lot of info, pictures, and solutions on this link.

SOURCE: 1999 Porsche Boxster : key

Not necessarily de-programed the keyfobs; if the car battery is uncharged, it possible that the security module sensed as an "disconected battery" condition and activated the antitheft system. Check in your owners manual disarm procedure.

The key fobs do get stuck in the on position, especially if you leave them in your pockets all day long. The buttons get stuck in the down/pressed position causing the battery to wear down and eventually the remote itself needs to be re-programed.

Also, could check the battery in the keyfob, its possible that they need replace it and re-programming. Check this ways:
1.- If the key had gone faulty, the key code must be re programmed on the vehicle computer. This can be done only using a PIWIS tool, available at the dealer or at a qualified Porche garage.
Try also the following reset:
* turn ignition on,
* turn off.
* remove the transponder from the column
* push any button on the fob within 6 seconds.

This procedure will reset the key synchronizing again with the vehicle computer.

2.- If you put the battery upside down you risk to short the key remote and break it. When the key fob is falshing slower it means that is not synchrronised with the car.

Try also the procedure below:
* Unlock your car using the key
* Open car door ( if alarm goes off, put key in the ignition to stop the alarm).
* Press unlock button on remote and the remote will resynchronize with the car.

If it does not work, then you have either two faulty remotes, if you are not, you have a faulty control module or a problem with ECU.

Hope helps. Keep us updated.

My 2006 volvo key wont unlock and car wont start but security light flashes

Locate your second key fob -
Try using that key fob -

if it does not work, and you can verify the Batteries in both Fob's are good - it could be a couple different things.

1. your security system control box may be 'bad'.
2. their is a 'ring' around the key area that are notorious for going bad and preventing the car from starting - however...they don't prevent the key fob from remotely opening the door locks.
3. The power feeding the security system is interrupted (blown fuse, etc) -

I would do the following:

1. Check the second fob and see if it works - If it does you have a bad #1 key fob (or battery).
2. Check ALL of the fuses (in the dashboard Drivers side access panel) AND under hood - Check even those not labeled security - as there are often fuses that feed more than one item, but are only labeled for one item.
3. Try going inside the car, shut all the doors, and lock/unlock the car five or six times using the interior control - I believe this is supposed to reset the unit.
I could be wrong - you can look this up. It might be that you have to do this with the key fob but I can't recall.

Give those things a shot. Also, make 100% sure all of the doors, hood, trunk, etc are fully closed.

I'd just about bet you have a bad key fob - finding #2 is the key here.

Beyond that - it's probably a trip to the junkyard for a new security module and matching set of key fobs - But long before getting involved in that - I'd bet you have a bad key fob or blown fuse -

Security Modules and key fob's are not universally replaceable, are extremely difficult to work with (for those without VIDA [Volvo Diagnostic software] and programming capabilities) and have to be programmed to work with the control unit to which assigned.

Security Lock Flashing. Even when I lock with key it stops flashing but stays on. What is solution?

You are going to have to use the Key fob or remote alarm fob to go threw a set of lock and unlock procedure. Crank the car shut it off remove the key outside the vehicle at a distance of at least 30ft then lock the car, wait till it arms and the dash light blinks once this is active you want to unlock the car with the remote. If this one does not work do the same thing except when you unlock it do so with the key to re open after arming security. Also make sure you have both fobs or all remote fobs with you when you do this lock with one unlock with the other then vise, versa ok if you need any further help just ask also make sure your battery is fully charged and the terminals are clean this will affect a security system bad a low battery or low battery in the FOB's.

Won't start, could it be fob or engine?

Try not using the fob at all open the door with the key. And start the jeep if it works without issue then its the fob. If its still not working correctly remove the battery from the fob and try again(since if it was damaged could be sending the signal for the panic button) the next step is the key try your spare security key can become worn and cause issues with the antitheft system. After that it only leaves computer problems and those can get spendy

2004 Hyundai Elantra won't start, emergency flashers keep blinking, can't shut off, lights dim, can't jump start, clicking from under dash from relays. What could it be?

The 'Keyless Entry & Burglar Alarm System" is activated. You must 'Disarm' the system using the Keyless Entry Remove (Key Fob) to "Reset" the system. The reason the engine won't start is due to the burglar alarm - it has a "Starter Kill" circuit which is activated when the alarm is activated. The alarm must be DEactivated to DEactivate the 'Starter Kill' circuit.
Another way to start the engine is to get in the car, put the key in the ignition and turn it to 'ON" and wait 3 to 5 minutes until the emergency flashers stop/turn off. Afterward, you should be able to start the engine. NOTE: This does NOT reset the burglar alarm. It will go off again when you enter the vehicle without using the remote/key fob.

I had my ignition cylinder & housing replaced now my car won't start. How do I reset the passlock system so my car will start

Hello, Try this: Get in car, turn the key to start, when it don't start let key come back to run (do not turn off) The security light should be blinking, let car set for about ten minutes or until security light stays on steady at that time turn key off for 10 seconds then turn back on (do not go to start) security light will be blinking again wait 10 minutes and security light should go out. Turn key off, wait 10 seconds . Turn key on (do not go to start) security light will be blinking again, wait 10 minuets and security light will go out. AT THIS TIME TURN KEY OFF FOR 10 SECONDS THEN START THE CAR.

'98 Saturn SL1 won't start. Alarm system behaving strangely. Have power, turn key-nothing. Then it will start for no reason. Drove it home (20 miles), shut it off and it won't start again. Changed battery...

I had this same exact problem in a family member's Saturn. If you are opening the door with the key and not using the key FOB to unlock the doors, then the security system will not allow you to start the car. You will notice when this happens that the dome light will blink and you'll hear the relay in the BCM clicking.

In order to stop the security system from doing this: Make sure the car is locked with the key fob by hitting the lock button. Then hit the unlock button on the key fob once and then once again (I do it out of habit). Then open the driver side door, put the key in and it should start no problem.
