2005 Malibu Max, when driving a roaring whirling noise is coming from engine compartment, Engine seems to be ok. it only happens when moving seems to pick up speed when going faster ?

Sounds like a bad wheel bearing to me. Try slightly turning to the left than to the right when the noise begins. If it changes pitch, than it is most probably a bad wheel bearing.

2005 Malibu roaring noise when picking up speed
The most obvious reason could be a leaking exhaust, have you checked this? The other possibility is a leaking or displaced inlet filter or housing. Most other noise sources would be obvious during all phases of the engine operation.

Whirling Noise
Sounds like fuel pump pressurizing the fuel system. They do that for 2-3 seconds and then it stops (for fuel injected vehicles).
