Hello. Replacing the clutch in a 4WD is a pretty big job. Dealerships charge it as a ten hour job. It could take from 8-12. Joe

About 5 minutes... he f-f is right in the open on a 96 legacy... right on top on the drivers side of the engine compartment. Just a screwdriver is needed. Change it every 3 years... and you will never have "fuel injection" problems. Change the fuel pump at 150-160k mi and you will never have fuel injection problems. Its simple to keep trouble away when it comes to fuel injection systems. The 95 and 96 Legacy and Impreza's are the best...
1) noninterference engines
2) dual airbags
3) get the ABS

Trouble shifting gears in 1991 4wd Subaru Loyale. PLZ HELP!!!!

Once the freeplay is set it should not alter, the driven plate linings may have come loose or the pressure plate may have a broken spring. If so replace as a kit including the throw out bearing and spigot hearing.

1992 subaru loyale will not come out of 4wd

Mine will have a delay when disengaging and "pop" really loudly. My dad discovered it would disengage much easier if I stopped the car, put it in reverse, and backed up a couple yards. Hope that helps!

Rear brakes locked on my 92 loyale wagon. How do I

Your rear emergency cables are frozen. You can try pulling back toward the rear of the vehicle on the center cable while someone inside wiggles the lever up and down slightly NOT all the way up. Then by grabbing individually the left cable and twisting and bending it,it may release. Do the same to the other side. Soon as you can get a can of Liquid wrench or an equivelent, NOT WD-40, and soak the two rear lines going to each wheel. ASAP, the rear cables and any other frozen/worn parts should be replaced.

Cost of replacing clutch on 1990 subaru loyale, mystery clunking

It will probably cost you I'm guessing around $700 (including labor) if its a manual, more if its automatic. Subaru's are good cars and usually last out until, and sometimes, beyond the 300k mark, at least in my experience they have.
