Need an engine diagram for 96 vw passat vr6 specifically the air hose from the filter to throttle body and what looks like a pcv from engine to intake hose. parts stores are telling me there is no pcv valve but dealer is saying there is. at any rate the diaphram valve is broken and I need to find one to replace it
PCV valves aren't common on European cars, instead they regulate vacuum flow by connecting a small diameter hose to a very small hole in the intake manifold or throttle body.
The other end of the hose is typically connected to the top of the engine at the oil mist and flame trap which is usually inside one of the cam covers. The main engine crankcase breather hose typically also connects there and sometimes is connected to the air cleaner side of the air intake and sometimes directly to the air filter housing.
The small hole generally needs checking during maintenance as they frequently become blocked. The hole is something like 5/64 inch but mostly it is beneficial to enlarge it just a little, say to 3/32.
Sorry can't advise you about the diaphragm valve...

If you have the 2.0L motor than NO. You have to remove the timing belt to access some of the water pump bolts.
SOURCE: throttle body in 2001 Passat
throttle body is located at intake manifold ..follow snorkle from air cleaner to where it attaches to motor ..looses hose and clean with carb cleaner there..open blades(throttle) to get behind entry good also..... fuel filter is located in tank and in line from fuel tank just in front of tank inline with fuel line...good luck

ya honestly just fixed that on my 1993! its not a big deal but u got to break it lose with a 24mm deep socket and it works!
SOURCE: Oil in the intake manifold air hose...
This is usually an indication of "blowback" caused by worn piston rings. How many miles on the engine? There is not a cheap solution if it is blowback.
