You will have to remove upper intake plenum the black plastic part there is a o-ring around the area you are speaking of. now if this engine didn,t have the intake gaskets replaced before installing now would be good time because if you keep vehicle believe me you will have to do sooner or later these engines came with plastic intake gaskets that are notorious for leaking to do this you will njeed to remove both upper and lower intake manifolds I just started a job on 99 tahoe today before lunch and customer is driving tonight replaced upper and lower intake gaskets fel-pro makes updated gaskets for this engine that has thick metal shim and rubber gaskets a great improvement that ends this problem as for your vacuum leak at opening for fuel lines don,t see often but is possible hope this helps

91 Buick lesabre fuel leak. What are the 5 metal lines running below the driver door? The larger center one is leaking fuel.

Only two are fuel lines, the main feed to the engine and the return line from the engine to the tank. One other gas tank line will be the EVAP line for sending gas tank fumes from the charcoal canister to the engine's intake manifold.
I think the other lines would be your brake lines to the rear wheels.

YouTube has many videos on repairing rusted fuel lines. Most people use the lines made of plastic in their repairs-takes special fittings though. These plastic lines have become very common now. In fact my '92 LeSabre has mostly plastic lines.

What would cause my 2002 ford explorer xls to idle rough

What engine do you have? is check engine light on? You said you changed coil pack, but what about spark plugs? could be fouled by normal wear, improper application/plug gap, oil fouling (oil residue on electrode) caused by bad valve guide seals or bad piston rings or gas fouling(electrode wet with gas) caused by bad plug, wire, injector, O-2 sensor. Could be caused by a vacuum leak (hose or intake manifold/gasket) Check all vacuum hoses for cracking/chaffing, repair as needed. with engine idling spray carburetor cleaner at base of intake manifold watch for rpm increase if so there is a vacuum leak. Could be stuck open egr valve, Could be compression problem or timing chain problem. This is the best I can do with info you provided. Hope it helps.

My husband has a 2004 Chrysler Intrepid. On June 21, 2011 the engine light came on and we took it took it to the garage . The mechanic replaced the intake gasket for a vaccum leak , well since then it...

Take it back and he will fix it, maybe a o-ring where the fuel line connects to the fuel rail or if he removed the injectors, then a o-ring maybe pinched, loose fuel line fitting. something minor, but dangerous, can catch fire real easy, I would have it towed to be safe.

I recently replaced the EGR Valve. Now when I step on the accellerator, it doesn't seem to be getting the gas. The car will barely move when I step on the gas.

Temporarily disconnect the new EGR and see if it helps. You may get a check light from the EGR, but you will know if its the problem. You might want to check your paperwork for the EGR and see if the engine requires a different part#.

Also do a leak test on the Intake manifold. Use a water spray bottle or choke cleaner safe for plastic and rubber. Then, while the engine runs, spray around the seams on the Intake, the EGR, and any switch having a Vacuum fitting. When you find a leak the RPM will change. Then fix the leak.

Some of the v-6 manifolds were 2 piece and the gaskets fail, then some motors have 2 solenoids on top of the engine with vacuum lines leading to 2 pods on the manifold. The solenoids are known to stick. Try using WD40 and spray inside the solenoids to free them.

you will need to replace the egr valve as well as its controller,
unless it is a combo unit with a solenoid built in .

You could have either a vacuum line leak or an intake gasket leak. Often an intake gasket leak will also cause an oil consumption issue as the actual vacuum leak is at the bottom side of the intake and will result in not ony a misfire at idle but will pull engine oil into the intake causing a loss of engine oil. The other primary sources of leaks I find are broken plastic vacuum lines, usually on the passenger or rear side of the engine. The throttle plates on these do cause a loud hissing noise [normal] so it's often hard to pinpoint an actual vacuum leak unless the air cleaner is on which mutes some of the normal air noise.

Location of sensor for troubleshooting po442 to cause check engine light to come on

P0442 OBD-II Trouble Code - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)

What does that mean?
This indicates a fuel vapor leak in the EVAP control system. It means a very small leak has been detected. In fact, the leak can be from a hole as small as 0.04" in diameter. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

Symptoms
You likely won't notice any drivability problems.

Causes
A code P0442 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
* A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
* A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
* A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
* Other small leak in EVAP system
* Faulty vent o-ring seal

Possible Solutions
With a P0442, the most common repair is to:
* Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
* Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or
* Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses

Engine runs rough and want to die when i put it in gear or when slowing at an intersection some times it runs perfect but not for long i changed sending unit , filter , and complete tune up. sometimes...

This condition can be caused by a sludged up idle speed control valve and a dirty throttle valve, do the following procedure to correct this, if it still doesn't repair the problem have the idle speed control system tested by the dealer.

Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
