My golf cut out as driving along and refuses to start its not cambelt engine turs as normal but will not fire

could be anything from a fuel issue to an igniton relay issue..

All we can do from the internet is wonder along with you,

sound like the cambelt broken

jaguar xj8 had a problem with throttle bodies on some years.Check with the main dealer as they will be changed free inder warranty untill the end of 2009.

try removing battery and cleaning all the ground under the battery tray and check main ground wire from battery to engine

Hi ,
Try replacing the Mass air flow meter and check the Catalytic converter is not blocked,also look for air leaks on the induction side of the MAF sensor

Ok do you have a spark? do you have compression? as both of these are needed to make the engine fire up along with fuel.
you may want to check if the cambelt is still intact too.

is it a tapping or a knocking , has any one checked the cambelt is it loose it might be tapping on the cambelt cover , check it asap look for rubbing marks on the inside of the cover

replace starter hit it with a hammer to see if it will go

umh,have you checked the cambelt/chain tension its a bit strange for two sensors to go down at the same time !! cranksensor would make it stop but normally on sequential injection if the camsensor fails the car will keep running untilll you stop it then refuse to start....
