You need to get behindnd the glove box and you will see a little black cover you need to remove ..should be 2 little plastic spring tabs on each side you push in ,hold and then pull out the tray which houses the cabin filter.

Why is the rear air conditioner on Acura MDX 2004 not working?

If like older style vans it will have second compressor at back of vehicle this probably needs a charge or new compressor

Now the other part is if it has running ducts you need to see if any cracked or split from front to back
Run snake cam threw air ducts wont cost anything for a look at any mechanic shop
Belts barrings and tensioners check out
Pull off belt and turn ac by hand if theres resistance replace compressor
Your dryer on system could need a clean out and cabin filter

How to change 2004 mdx cabin air filta

The older the Acura/Honda, the more difficult this is. The 2nd generation MDX takes 2 minutes to replace, yours isn't that easy. 2 philips head screws hold the glove box hinges in. Pull the right kick panel cover off first, to get access to the right screw. If this is the 1st time it has been replaced, cut out the plastic in front of the bracket that holds the glove box. There are slots on each ent to make it easy. Then some unscrew the bracket. Remove it and the CAF cover is right there. Have patience, getting the 2 hinge screws back in takes some finesse. There is a short cut to this job, but I would have to show you.

I am wondering what is absolutely necessary in terms of maintenance on 2007 mdx at 60000 miles.

There is not much maintinace on these, the trany oil doesnt and should not be touched maybe at 100,000 miles, at 60,000, rotate tires, change oil, check and replace air filter if needed, change cabin filter, and the rest is checking fluids, brakes etc, theres not much the most necessary thing is the oil change and rotate tires, i know the dealer charges alot for nothing, youcan look in the manually in the rear it shows you the services, or just google the year make and model and maintinance required. and it will also show you, good luck hope this is helpful.

Change cabin air filter in 2006 Acura MDX

You cut the cross bar away with some diagonals and throw it away. It is just an assembly aid when they are putting the car together. Google "DIY MDX cabin air filter" and you will find step by step procedures with photos for changing the filter. It is not a difficult job.
