I have a brake sensor problem. I read one of the comments about setting the ignition to position 2. I tried it but did not work. Am I doing it wrong? Second problem is... one of my belts squeaks in the morning when car is cold. I was told it wasn't the belt but rather the pulley. Not sure if it hydraulic or mechanical.

I expect ur engine 24v. this model use one long belt and one short belt. the pulley cammonly not the cause. when belts is squeaking ur pour some water to those belt and find out the hot belt. the hot belt will vapourise the water. the belt should be replaced. before replace check for free running of each pulley and clean the pulley surface. im suggest place with continental belt.tq

Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration Description and Operation
Calibration Criteria
Brake pedal position sensor calibration must be preformed after the brake pedal position sensor or electronic brake control module (EBCM) have been serviced. The calibration procedure will set the brake pedal position sensor "home" value. This value is used by the EBCM to determine the action of the driver applying the brake system and to provide this information to the vehicle subsystems via the class II communication bus.
Calibration Procedure
• Install a scan tool.
• Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
• Select Chassis.
• Select DRP/ABS/TCS/VSES.
• Select Special Functions.
• Select the BPP Sensor Calibration and follow the directions displayed on the screen.


Stop Lamps
The brake pedal position sensor is a resistive device used to sense the action of the driver's application of the brake pedal. The brake pedal position sensor provides an analog signal that will increase as the brake pedal is pressed.
The brake pedal position sensor receives both a 5-volt reference voltage and a low reference signal from the electronic brake control module (EBCM). When the brake pedal is pressed, a variable signal is applied from the brake pedal position sensor to the EBCM through the brake sensor signal circuit. The fuse block left rear supplies battery positive voltage to the bass relay switch through the BASS fuse. One side of the bass relay coil is permanently grounded at G402. The EBCM supplies voltage to the bass relay coil upon receiving the signal from the brake pedal position sensor. The switch contacts of the bass relay close and battery positive voltage is applied through the bass relay switch to the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL), and to the turn signal/hazard flasher module through the stop lamp switch signal circuit. The ground for the CHMSL is applied from G402. The turn signal/hazard flasher module then supplies voltage to the left and right stop lamps in the tail lamp assemblies that have ground at G401 and G402. For export vehicles the stop lamps receive battery positive voltage directly from the bass relay.

2007 saturn sky brake lights on constantly. cruise control does nor work. neutral safety switch does nor work.

Your best bet , take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop that has a professional scan tool an service repair info . So it can be diagnosed correctly . The Stop lamp switch is not a old school conventional type . Has three wires , five volt ref. voltage from the BCM ,

Ground for the right rear stop lamp and CHMSL is applied at G402. Ground for the left rear stop lamp is applied at G400. The stop lamps on this vehicle will not illuminate unless the ignition is in the accessory, run, or crank positions. When the ignition is in the OFF position the stop lamps will not illuminate when the brake pedal is applied.

Checking for DTC's - diagnostic trouble code's in the BCM would be my first diagnostic step , not guessing an replacing parts .

The body control module (BCM) provides a low reference signal and a 5-volt reference voltage to the brake pedal position sensor. When the variable signal reaches a voltage threshold indicating the brakes have been applied, the BCM will apply battery positive voltage to the stop lamps, center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL), transmission control module (TCM), and engine control module (ECM). The stop lamps will not operate unless the ignition is in the ON position.

It's hard to fix something when you don't have a clue how it works . The CC is also a controlled function of the BCM .
The BCM monitors the signal circuit of the cruise control switches. The BCM relays the cruise control switch status to the ECM via the GMLAN serial data circuit. The ECM uses the status of the cruise control switch to determine when to capture and maintain the vehicle speed. The ECM monitors the vehicle speed signal circuit in order to determine and the desired vehicle speed. The ECM uses the TAC motor in order to maintain the vehicle speed. For further review of the TAC system, refer to Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description for the 2.0L engine or to Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description for the 2.4L engine. Ignition voltage is supplied to the cruise control switch from the 2-amp CRUISE fuse located in the integrated BCM fuse block. The cruise control switches are located on the steering wheel. The cruise control function switches are arranged in a resistive ladder design, with each cruise control function switch having a different resistance value. The BCM detects a specific voltage value that is associated with any cruise control function switch being activated. When the normally open cruise control on/off switch is turned ON, the switch closes and the BCM detects a predetermined voltage signal on the cruise control set/coast and resume/accel switch signal circuit. The BCM sends a GMLAN serial data message to the ECM indicating that the On/Off switch is active. Similarly, when the + RES switch or the - SET switch are pressed, the BCM detects the predetermined voltage signal on the cruise control set/coast and resume/accel switch signal circuit. To engage the cruise control system, ensure that the vehicle speed is above 40.2 km/h (25 mph), turn the cruise On/Off switch ON and momentarily press the - SET switch. The ECM will engage the cruise control system and record the vehicle speed. The ECM sends a GMLAN serial data message via the BCM to the driver information center (DIC) in order to display the CRUISE ENGAGED message. The - SET switch or the + RES switch will remain inactive when the BCM has not received the predetermined voltage signal from the On/Off switch. Pressing the accelerator pedal, while the cruise control system is engaged, will allow the driver to override the cruise control system in order to accelerate the vehicle beyond the current set vehicle speed. When the accelerator pedal is released, the vehicle will decelerate and resume the current set vehicle speed. The driver can also override the current set vehicle speed via the - SET switch and the + RES switch. When the cruise control system is engaged, pressing and holding the - SET switch will allow the vehicle to decelerate from the current set vehicle speed without deactivating the cruise control system. When the - SET switch is released, the ECM will record the vehicle speed and maintain the vehicle speed as the new set vehicle speed. When the cruise control system is engaged, momentarily pressing the - SET switch will allow the vehicle to decelerate at 1.6 km/h (1 mph) increments for each time that the - SET is momentarily pressed, with a minimum vehicle speed of 37 km/h (23 mph). Pressing and holding the + RES switch, when the cruise control system is engaged, will allow the vehicle to accelerate to a greater vehicle speed than the current set vehicle speed. When the + RES switch is released, the ECM will record the vehicle speed and maintain the vehicle speed as the new set vehicle speed. When the cruise control system is engaged, momentarily pressing the + RES switch will allow the vehicle to accelerate at 1.6 km/h (1 mph) increments for each time that the + RES switch is momentarily pressed, with the maximum acceleration total of 16 km/h (10 mph) over the current set vehicle speed. Momentarily pressing the + RES switch after the cruise control system has been disengaged by pressing the brake pedal, will recall the previous set vehicle speed that is recorded in the ECM.

I'm working on an 05 buick terraza with a code c1101.Can that code be set by a bad steering wheel position sensor?I have already replaced the ebcm and bpmv.

DTC C1101 : Base Brake System Pressure Sensor 2 Range . Has nothing to do with steering wheel position sensor or the EBCM or BPMH !
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) uses an input from 2 brake fluid pressure sensors to enhance Antilock Brake System (ABS) braking and vehicle stability if equipped.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The 2 master cylinder pressure sensors do not correlate.
your best bet mite be to take it to a qualified repair shop .

I'd say you have more then a bad fuse ,just reading how the brake lights function .You should have it hooked up to a professional grade scan tool ,one that can check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in the BCM - body control module !
  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Brake Pedal Position Sensor parameter in the data list for the body control module (BCM).
  4. Apply and release the brake pedal.

The body control module (BCM) applies a ground through the brake sensor reference low circuit to the brake pedal position (BPP) sensor. The BCM supplies a 5-volt reference through the brake sensor reference voltage circuit to the brake position sensor. When the brake pedal is being applied, the BPP sensor then sends a variable voltage signal through the brake sensor signal circuit to the BCM.
Circuit/System Verification
  1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Brake Lamp Cmd. parameter as you apply and unapply the brake pedal. The parameter should change between OFF and ON as the brake pedal is applied and released.

    If the parameter does not change as the brake pedal is applied and released, refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor (BPPS) Malfunction.

  3. With a scan tool, command the LR Stop/Turn Signal Lamp ON and OFF. The LR turn signal should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.

My car reading the following codesp1489 codep0601 p0725 p1490 p1391 p0700 p 0703,car cut off while driving oil seems to be thin smells a Lil like gas was told its a sensor but not which one Let me know any...

If the oil smells like gas , pull the dip stick an put a lighter to it ! If it catches fire there is gas in the oil ! you don't won't to drive the car it could explode ! .
P1391 is for camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor. the code is for either sensor or both

With all these codes present , without looking under the hood , I would think you have a wiring harness problem ! I have seen critters make nests in the engine compartment , they like to chew wiring ! Have seen air filter boxes full of dog food . Good luck your going to need it !

Cam crank sensor on95fordprobe

Hi there:

The camshaft position sensor is an integral part of the distributor and not serviceable.


The crankshaft position sensor reads the rotation of the crankshaft which the computer translates to determine engine timing sequences. The computer uses this reading, in conjunction with the camshaft position sensor, to determine proper fuel injection and ignition timing.

Brake pad wear indicator light does not go off at the dash after changing rotors brake pads and the sensor in the front wheels all pads and rotors and the sensor is ok at rear. the vehicle has only 30000...

Did you change the sensor? if you did, do a battery reset (disconnect for 10 to 20 min.).

Obviously the wear sensor has made contact with the rotor and is already damaged. You're not even suppose to resuse the wear pad sensor if its worn or damaged anyways.The way how the sensor works is that it must make contact to the rotor to complete the wear pad light indicator circuit. There is no mentioning that he replaced the the wear pad sensor with a new one.

But if one did replaced the wear pad sensor and the wear pad indicator is lit up, the way to reset it is to leave the key on in ignition switch #2 or #1 for about 30sec. turn it off and its reset.

Its possible that you forgot to replace the brake light sensors. They are about 15 bucks, and have to be replaced in order for that light to turn off. You can either get them from the dealer where they'll likely charge you 3 times as much, or you can go to http://www.turnermotorsport.com and get them there.

You have to reset the light by leaving the ignition switch on position #2 for about 30 sec. turn off the ignition and start the engine up and see if it goes out. I recommend buying a new wear pad sensor as well because now light will lit up when you're way below spec (less than 3mm)

Also, you could try with this procedure for one E39: Turning off the Check Brake Linings warning on the Instrument Cluster...
- so you've just changed the brake pads on your E39, along with the wear sensors. The old sensor(s) needed replacement cause you waited a bit too long before changing the pads, and wore through the sensor(s), turning on the BRAKE light on the dash. But wait, the light is still on? But there's a new sensor installed... what gives?!
- there is a procedure required in order to turn off the light/warning. With the ignition off, step on and hold the brake pedal. Now, while holding the brake pedal down, turn on the ignition switch to position 2 (just before cranking). Hold the brake pedal until the BRAKE light is off. Tada, the warning is gone and reset.

NOTE: This procedure worked on a 2001 E46 325i. It took about 15-20 seconds, but it cleared out w/o having to unhook the battery.

How to Replace a Brake Light Switch
Parts:
1. Brake Light Switch

Tools:
1. Needle Nose Pliers
2. Flashlight
3. Combination Wrench Set

Steps:
Step 1 * Insert your key and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
o Tip: Safety Tip:Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or safety shoes.

Step 2 * Turn your headlights on.
o Tip: Have an assistant check to make sure your tail lights are both working properly.

Step 3 * Step on your brake pedal and have an assistant check to see if the brake lights illuminate.

Step 4 * If all the brake lights are out, locate the brake light switch on the brake pedal linkage. Check for 12 volts into and out of the switch.
o Tip: Turn the key to the OFF position before starting any electrical work.

Step 5 * Disconnect the wiring harness from the brake pedal switch.

Step 6 * Disconnect the brake pedal switch from the brake pedal linkage.
o Tip: You may need to remove a c-clip to do so.

Step 7 * Remove the old brake pedal switch and replace it with a new part.

Step 8 * Reconnect the wiring harness to the brake pedal switch.

Step 9 * Repeat steps 1-3 to confirm that the repair has solved your problem.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

I dunno if this will work on your BMW, but on my BMW Z3 and M3, it was....

Turn the ignition key to position 2, but do NOT start the car. Wait for about 45 seconds and the brake warning message will be reset.

If it doesn't reset, then the brake sensor was damage. You will need to replace the brake sensor. It sounds like you replace the brake right after you saw the warning, so the brake sensor should be okay.
