Make sure the parking brake is engaged first. Then just push the button next to the parjing brake.

Most common problem for 1994 - 1999 mustang convertible tops not working is the parking brake sensor not working correctly. Pull e brake slow until the light shows up on instrument cluster then try pushing the convertible top button. If that doesn't work check fuses under hood and near driver pedals.

SOURCE: Convertible top goes down and won't come back up.

You are probably low on fluid.
Behind the rear seat is the motor/pump/reservoir.
With the top down, fill the reservoir till it overflows with ATF. Cycle the system a few times. Repeat till the reservoir will accept no more fluid.
Look for leaking lines or cylinders. The fluid must have gone someplace.
Always replace lines and or cylinders in pairs.

How do i put the top down on a 1994 mustang convertable

Relase the 2 latches aove the windshield, lower the windows and then operate the switch to lower the top. the top has an electric motor that operates a pump that sends hydraulic fluid under pressure to a piston on each arm behind the rear seat. That raises or lowers the top.

Need to know how to put the top down on 96 mustang dont have manu

First thing to do is put the car in park and then set the parking brake. Next, release the drivers and passenger side handles (located at the top, above your head when you are sitting in the car, where the part of the top meets the windshield) Both handles are black and you simply pull the lever to release the hooks. After both hooks are released, push the button located near the speedometer (should be underneath the speedometer) on the dash and the top motor will engage and begain to retract the top. Hold the button untill the top disapears behing the back seat

Putting together the 3 bows for convertible top

Do yourself and your Mustang convertible a favor. Have the top professionally installed. The bows are position sensitive and require adjustment so the top fabric is stretched just right. I had a 66 drop top that needed just fabric and I still paid a pro to do it.
