We have a 2004 Volvo S80, the check engine light came on, the diagnostic test indicated the fuel fill cap , which has been replaced, the light will not go out. also we continue to get a message time to perform maintenance , even though all scheduled maintenance has beendone. how do these two warning signals get reset>
You need a technician with a diagnostic tool.. The thing about these cars is every time you do something you need to reset the counter on the cars computer.. This can only be done with a diagnostic tool
I have two questions regarding the Solution 1 above:
1. If replacing the fuel fill cap had fixed the cause of the problem, is resetting the counter the only thing a technician has to do?
2. If the fuel fill cap and refilling fuel with engine running are not the cause of the check engine light problem, what are the other causes if there is any?
Thanks in advance!
