Most starters to remove
disconnect battery ,make sure you have radio codes in case you need them
disconnect wiring to starter and write down what way wires go back
bolts 2 or 3 on most starters remove bolts mark position of starter for going back refit your new one or get old one reconditioned

Remove the positive lead on the battery and secure it where it cannot touch the battery post. then, just unbolt the starter from the engine, remove the wires (make notes what goes where) and reverse the process to install. If you already have the new unit, look at it to find the bolt locations.
