    I did not say it was a gas cap, I said it is possible a gas cap, you have a leak in in the system, what that is can require extensive testing with a evap system testing smoke genrator, do this for free sorry you rated me this way, good luck.

I have a 1999 Cadillac Deville. It has the a/c codes and is full
one way that could work is to disconnect the battery for a few minutes. some models won't do it. the only other way is to take it to a shop that has a scan tool and have them clear it. did the person that told you the codes must be cleared, tell you what the codes were? it is possible to purchase and inexpensive code reader that is capable of clearing codes

Code po440
HI. This code is linked to several fail points on this particular engine. Here are all the possible causes for this code below.

  1. Charcoal canister is loaded with fuel or moisture(Contaminated)
  2. Fuel filler cap is loose, cross-threaded, damaged or wrong part(replace the cap if damage if found)
  3. Fuel tank, fuel filler neck or fuel sending unit 'O' ring is leaking(Check for leakage in these areas)
  4. Fuel tank pressure sensor is damaged, disconnected or it failed
  5. Fuel tank vapor line(s) is clogged, damaged or disconnected
  6. Purge valve vapor line is clogged, damaged, or disconnected
  7. Purge or vent solenoid power circuit is open (check the fuse)
  8. PCM has failed(Highly unlikely, but possible)

If you have an EVAP leak, you need to follow the evap hoses and look for cracked lines that could be leaking. There is a possibility of a bad purge solenoid, or a bad NVLD pump. You may need to take it to someone who can test all that stuff.

Diaganosed the car with P0741 and P0440 trouble codes
The P0741 code is a torque converter clutch stuck in the off position and the po 440 code is an evaportative emission control circuit malfunction. The po440 code could be the gas cap not seated properly. Niether has anything to do with the radiator.
