Question about 1998 Honda Accord

1 Answer

98 honda accord car alarm will not let car start.

I have a 98 honda accord that i think the car alarm will not let the car start.the engine will crank and turn over and run just long enough for me to take my hand off the key then the car alarm trips and kills the engine. then i have to take out key and disarm the alarm. when i try to start car agian the engine will crank but not start. after several times taking out key, arm, disarm alarm and try to start the car the engine sometimes will start. then runs fine. i can even turn off the car and start it again and have no problems. if i let the car set for 30 mins the problem starts all over again. the brand on the key faub for the alarm is UT automotive. the car came from the dealer with the alarm. not sure if its factory or after market. i think factory because the key faub has honda imprinted on it and the alarm box is integrated with the fuse box.

Try chaning the main relay. It is $60 at the dealer, cheaper on e-bay. There is also a way to repair the sodlering connection on it if you want to try and save some money. Check youtube for a video on how to rapir main relay on Honda's. Any questions, e-mail me at edwardmgomez@hotmail.com

I have a 2007 Honda accord se and I cannot get my car to turn over ive tried disconnecting the alarm system thinking that was the problem and nothing the pager alarm keeps reading inhibit

hybrid or not, what engine I4 or V6, got IMMO? just a clue?
all fuses>? ok? that is first on all elect failure including EFI.

The 2007 and hybrid both have immoblizer options, yours?
pager alarm? after market stuff? hacks? call them...... yes.
IMMO cuts fuel if anyone attempts to hotwire the car (like on TV malarky, see movie PARKER, what a joke.)
The IMMO signals bad key or good key code, does it?
this is in the operators guide , is it lost?

turn over, what does that man.
dead starter motor (dont spin or turn over)
or the engine does not turn over, due to above dead starter?
no crank?
or no start? are 2 different things.
i looked up the IMMO schematic and it does not stop the starter.
it only cuts fuel
so if you mean the engine does crank and the engine fails to sTART.
then check the IMMO responses. if ok. or not.
check for fuel injection
then check for spark;

98 Honda Accord LX wont start/crank. No noise is made when I try to turn it over. No clicking, revving, turning... No sound comes from the car aside from the interior sounds/lights which lets me know its...

Check the starter motor. Many times they go on there own with no sign, and having someone crank it while using something to tap it often helps it turn over.

I have seen issues like this on other Honda's and the problem turned out to be the ignition starter switch. Do this, jumper power directly to the starter solenoid trigger wire and see if the engine cranks.

If your car came with the Prestige Alarm unit, there is a possibility that the alarm box got deprogrammed or burned, and left the anti-theft activated. Use the Valet Switch to deactivate the alarm permanently, and see if the car starts. For some reason unknown to me, it takes a couple of cycles of crank/ take the ignition switch off, crank again for the Valet Switch to work. In my 98 Accord, this micro-switch is installed in the left front kicker panel, but there is no guarantee that it will be in the same place in you accord, since it is a dealer installed option

2006 honda accord wont start. nothing happens when i turn it on, just a click. radio, lights and door chime work.vehicle will not jump start

First make sure the shift lever is properly in the park position. Hondas tend to have little problem in that area after a few years.
Second make sure battery terminals are clean and secure. Next you should try jumping the battery. A low battery may produce enough electricity to run the radio, lights, chimes etc but not enough to crank engine.

Car cranks then an hour later won't crank

Battery or starter. Sometimes the battery will have enough power to activate fuel pump and dash lights but not enough to turn starter.

Engine won't start. Dash lights flash rapidly when key turned.

the battery says 12 volts but may be dropping to 4 or 5 under a load...i would suggest jumpstarting the car and see what happens.the battery should read in the high 12 volts and not less than 9.5 under cranking. the dash lights go out on your car when starting, and the alarm will go off ,and disable the ignition if the voltage is too low in cranking the car because the computer will shut it down and activate the anti theft.....check your battery posts are tight. best of luck

1991 Honda Accord cranks but will not start

I think you should check the air filter or air intake. It seems like it's not gettin and air to start since when you spray the starting fluid it's runs but stop and it stalls. I think that it's the air supply for the car.

1990 Accord Lx 2.2 won't start. Cranks, but won't turn over

does the engine sound like it is turning over slow? It may be the starter dragging. If it doesn't turn over fast enough it won't crank.
