why does the dealer have to do it? Also, the dealer wants me to buy a new one from them. They want $1300.00 for the whole project. Yikes! the used cluster only cost me $443..

do u have the $2000 scanner to do the programming? do u have the software needed? ok, that is for starters.

You cant that has to be done be the dealer.plugging a used dash or any electrical part that has internal programming into your car can corrupt the vehichles software causing all sorts of stuff.also i dont know if a used part can be programmed. all the parts have the vin# stored in them.

  • dougbender51 Jul 02, 2010

because they have the programming to do it and will not let anybody else have. it is a specific program only for your car, depends on wich options wich there are many, you have in your car.putting the wrong one in can corrupt the whole cars programming, wich will cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars.so that is why they dont want no part of a used piece. and by the way every switch, module, pretty much anything with a wire going to it will have the same problem.

Don't get a scrap one - they are part of the canalis system and have an IP address. I sent mine dash away for a simple repair. It a google job to fid a repairer. Its easy to take out and easy fix. You might have to get the SRS reset by a garage.

Wat do i do if my speedometer and gauges stop working ? I have a Volvo s80 year 2000.

Send the cluster out for repair. They crack the pc boards and will work intermittently or not at all. Go on Ebay there is a guy who rebuilds these. I have had him do several and the cost is under $200. Volvo gets $1200 for an new one installed. Do not buy a used one!!!

My 2002 volvo s80 cluster will shut down with power windows/power lock, signals,

the 2002 s80 did have a problem with the cluster. I have one and I love the car. I went on ebay and found the correct cluster to fix the problem. If the displays are going off and on, replacement is the only fix. The 3 sets of numbers on your "new" cluster must be an EXACT match with the old clusters numbers. In other words, the cluster must be for a 2002 volvo. If the numbers match, it doesn't matter what model the donor cluster came from.

How can I set time in volvo s80

There is a small plastic rod coming out of the instrument cluster near the clock the same as the one for resetting/toggling the trip computer. Turn and hold it clockwise or counterclockwise, that will adjust the time.

I have a 2000 volvo s80 the cluster stop working ,the car runs and the check engine turns on thats all but if i take the cluster fuse and put it back it will work for a few sec and then it will stop...

To repair your cluster you can google a company called XeMoDex, or you can find a *same year* S80 in the junk yard and take the cluster from that and hope it's ok.

The thing is that the car will generally show whatever the highest mileage is - whether it's in your car's computer or in the new cluster. If your car has 100K miles and the junk yard cluster has 150K miles, it will show 150K miles.

We are trying to find the DIM (drivers information module) on our 2003 Volvo S80. Do you know where it's located?

The dim is actually the instrument cluster. If you are going to replace it, you can't install a used one and you will need to download software to make it work.
