Traction active is kicking in........why? This is a very dangerous problem if you pull out in traffic and your car won't move and I am wondering what is causing this to happen.

You could have a dirty or damaged tone wheel on one or more wheels
you did not mention if any abs or traction lights were on in the dash
if none are on then i would check and clean the tone wheels on the rear[2WD] or all 4 [4WD] if that dont do it a trip to the dealer would be a good idea

Ok, traction control is operated by the abs unit (advanced braking system). do you have any dash indicating lights on? if you pull power to the abs system your problem is fixed. but you do need to fix this it is dangerous. The cause will be most likely in your engine code you pull from the cars computer, autozone and checkers pulls codes for free.

How do you disable the slip sensor or electronic stability control on a 1999 nissan cedric y34?

A speed sensor in the rear differential is bad, resulting in engagement of traction lock mode. Have the diff. serviced with friction modifier additive. Damage to traction lock friction plates can occur if not serviced soon (expensive)

My chevrolet aveo won't intermittently move from 2nd to 3rd or 4th gear, and have to reduce speed and move back down to 2nd and try again ....notice it more if trying to move up the gears quickly

This transmission is electronically shifted via solenoids controlled by a computer, so you need to have that tested for fault codes that may be in memory.

I need to know if there is a speed threshold where the traction control activates? When it is engaged can the rear tires spin on wet pavement due to acceleration from a stop?

normaly it should not it might spin out a litle bit but stop afer the traction control sytem get on...the( t.c.s) is made to reduce the danger of loosing control so when a weel is not turning at the same speed of others it release the traction! i hope this answer your question,Thanks! please reply!...lipak!...

Traction active what do that mean

when the wheels slip the computer detects it and reduces how fast the engine will spin to allow you to get the car moving without continuing to spin the wheels. If the light stays on even after your moving their is a malfuction in the system and it needs to be serviced. This also happens if you try to spin the tires on a hard acceleration and it will reduce the rpms so you won;t squeel the tires. Most cars have a button to turn it off (will say traction off when pressed) and will allow the wheel slippage, then its all the driver to keep the wheels from slipping..

Haha help me again

this part scares me...."it felt like the brakes kicked in on its own and then it turned the abs lights and traction control on ... it felt like it was rubbing or something"........there must be a mechanical problem here..geometry of brake parts /rotor etc...everything you disturbed when changing out the axle needs to be VERy carefully inspected ...we are dealing with safety issues here now not just a light...look at the side that was not done..and move back to see how it looks on the side you did..something is not the same and we must find it before you take this thing out on the road again
