The light warns you that the exhaust emissions are above legal limits. First, check your air filter, maybe fit a new one. If the light remains on, some of the engine sensors could be faulty and you need to have them tested. Particularly the air flow sensor. Also the injectors may require cleaning and calibration.

Have a shop scan for the codes this will point you in the right direction of what is wrong. They usually do it for free.It only takes ten minutes.

Wat is causing my 2001 Chrysler Sebring to have a low whining sound when accelerated. it does not go away. also when taking off you have to push hard on gas pedal to get it to go faster and then it goes...

Don't know why you would be here asking or driving
a vehicle with that issue & the emissions light on.
It should have been in a shop a long time ago
I'm going to guess & say the Exhaust Converter is worn
out & blocking the exhaust getting out & you have to check
why it failed & correct those issues before installing a new one

Service engine light and no power

Hi there:
First, it is normal for the check engine light to come on momentarily when you turn on the ignition switch and then go out. If it stays on, then you have a stored code that indicates a malfunction of some kind in your engine or transmission control systems.

* The Check Engine Light comes on and stays on.
If the Check Engine Light illuminates constantly during driving with no noticeable driving or performance problems, there is a permanent fault in the emission control system. When this happens, the computer that controls the emission system usually has a backup program that runs while the fault is present. (These backup programs are often referred to as "limp home" mode programs.) You should get the vehicle serviced as soon as possible, but in most cases, the vehicle will continue to operate, though you run a risk of it dying or not starting.

* The Check Engine Light illuminates, stays on, and there are performance problems.
This means that a vital component of your emission control and engine management system has a serious problem. It usually involves a component or system needed for the vehicle to run at all. In most cases, drive the vehicle as little as possible. In many cases, the vehicle is not safe to drive at all -it could stop or stall out at any moment. It is best to pull over to a safe place and have the vehicle towed to an automotive diagnostician for a thorough inspection and repair.

I suggest visit some Autozone or AutoShop with OBD Scanner Reader in order to scanning the module to know exactly wat fault code is stored there; note this code number for additional details.

Hope this guide helps.

My check engine light come up w/ all these code P0305,P0440,P0441,P0446 what's wrong Thanks

po305 is related to missfire on #5 cylinder
po440 is related to fuel tank pressure
pO441 is for evaporator purge flow malfunction
po446 relates to vent control valve electrical circuit malfunction

missfire is seperate from the other codes
as for the other three codes replace the vent control valve solenoid located near the charcoal canister the oth3er codes can relate to a faulty solenoid

after replacing light will only go out if you clear through a scan tool or three drive cycles of over 10 min each

Wat do check engine soon mean wat can be my problem

Could be a bunch of things most likely some sort of emissions sensor. If you are close to an "Autozone" they can check the codes for you for free and this should tell you what is setting off the sensor
