There are very small oil galleries in that engine and the varnish will build up and restrict the flow of oil and it will leak past the valve guides.
do a compression test, and if it is good, the oil is not burning from the rings.,but from the valve guides.the seals need to be changed.

Hi I have a suburu imprezza wrx 2000 x reg it started blowing out blue smoke and then cut out now it won't start any ideas what iv done to my car

Well, it could be the turbo gone bad. Blue smoke is oil in the combustion. It could be broken pistons or something else expensive. Did it make any sounds when it died?

I have a 5L-E toyota hilux that runs fine at idle yhen when you rev it to about 2000 rpm it starts to blow alot of white smoke. I have cut injectors out while the smoke is blowing with no noticable...

i believe the engine is running too lean as if it was running too rich it would blow black smoke If it was blue smoke it is oil related eg valve stem seals, valve guides and or piston rings all of these things will create blue smoke if one of the above is worn out

I have 2002 mazda bounty 2.5 diesel when it starts up it runs really rough and blows out blue smoke but comes right when warms up.I replaced glow plugs, fuel and filter, oil and filter 6mths back and it...

firstly change oil every 6000kms and a oil filter every third oil, change ,blue smoke is a sign of oil consumption whitish gray is a sign of excess fuel from worn injection system .How many miles does this vehicle have on it ? Could the valve guides need new seals and the valve cleaned and re-lapped in .then maybe new piston rings ,.Also use the cheapest oil for a diesel you find from a supermarket using expensive long life oils can cause the engine to build up too much carbon clag inside the the engine so cheap oil, and change it often is my advice ,but without a look under the bonnet myself i couldnt even think of whats wrong
