Get a good aftermarket Stereo and have it installed if you do not know how to do it yourself.

The best advice is to log into a Volvo chat forum. They would be the best place to start. Google volvo chat forum. Then, in the search block in their forum, type in radio code or how to unlock a radio.

What an idiotic answer.  I would never let Technomad work on my Volvo.  Call the dealer and they will provide you with the correct code.  If they tell you to come down in person or try to charge you, then call another dealer.  It takes five minutes to look up the code.

To reset the code after being locked you must turn the key to the on position and leave it that way for about 2 hours (I can't rember the exact time but that's close) and the radio will reset and allow you to enter the code.  No kidding.  So if you can park it in your garage or otherwise keep an eye on it while doing that, then you don't have to worry about leaving the key in the ignition for that long.

You can go to a Volvo dealer and they can check the code in the system with your radio serial number, and this should be free of charge.

If you need the security code, you need to call a Volvo dealer and give them the VIN number, provided it is the same stereo the car came with.  Most dealers will do it for free, if you can't find one, call Boston Volvo Village.

Each radio has a different code. You need to call a Volvo dealership and read them the vin number and they can pull the code up for you
