High idle, races when driving , put in neutral still racing but put foot on brake ,stop and release brake and idle goes down. Automatic transmission 2003 Ford Focus 16 v Zetec 2.0

could be a number of things, from a vacuum leak to the idler needing cleaning. to a bad connection on the auto box sender unit. can also be a overcharging alternator this would change the ecu readings and enhance them, but also damage the ecu and the battery. 14.03 volts should be the max any higher then its a problem.

2001 ford taurus engine light flashing with car shaking & dying when idles, car stops shaking while in neutral

Don't drive it anymore while the engine light is flashing, can do damage. Find someone with a scanner to scan what the problem is. Even a cheap OBDII scanner will work and narrow down the problem. Will give a code, then we can go from there.

Idles roughly, then low when stopped or in park, then dies. Decreasing gas mileage. Slow to accelerate

Sometimes that's caused by a vacuum leak near the manifold area.

Sometimes air in the coolant will cause an idle problem. Air will keep the air temp sensor from sending proper info.
Hope this helps.

1995 grand am se 2.3L. starts idles, runs good. stalled while coasting to stop. started right away fine, idles and runs good and smooth, but dies when put in reverse or drive. after towing it home. after...

the question is-- was you foot on the brake at home or was just the hand brake applied
when driving , slowing , stopping standing , all have the foot on the brake which is activating a brake booster and if that is faulty , the vacuum leak causes the problem

My 2003 Ford Focus dies when idling after a little road trip.

have the check engine light checked at a parts store its usuall free. I would bet its the idle air control motor. This controls the fuel air mixture at idle

Engine dieing

Sounds like bad carbon build up, have you tryed using fuel injection cleaner yet? Because of the buildup, I would suggest putting it in with only a half a tank (to get a higher concentration of cleaner vers fuel). Once in, run it down the highway (the cleaner works best when the engine is hot) until you are almost out of gas, then fill it up and add another bottle of injector cleaner (alway add the injector cleaner after filling as the cleaner will foam if added before and this will lead to gas spillage at the pumps). Run the car normally. If it is just carbon, by you next tank of gas the problem should be solved. As pervention, I recomend using fuel injection cleaner every 4 tank fulls (for most people it works out to about once a month).
