Re: code reads P0340 Camshaft position Sensor circuit
That makes the computor think the timing is off. Replace the sensor and see if that does it. You will then have to have the code cleared (erased) or the light will come back on/stay on.

Hi !
P0340 = This indicates that a problem was detected in the camshaft position sensor circuit.
P0341 = Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
P0016 = Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor A)
The common point of these errors is the camshaft sensor, so I'm afraid you need to visit a service.
P0340 DODGE - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1
Possible causes- Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted - Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection - Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor - Faulty starter motor - Starting system circuit - Dead (Weak) battery Tech notes Sometimes and in some models, low battery voltage or a weak starter can can trigger a Camshaft Position Sensor code, also a loose worn cam belt can cause this code. Has the belt ever been replaced?.
P0340 JEEP - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit engine cylinder Bank 1 Sensor 1
Possible causes- Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted - Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection - Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor - Faulty starter motor - Starting system circuit - Dead (Weak) battery
Sometimes and in some models, low battery voltage or a weak starter can can trigger a Camshaft Position Sensor code.
could not find this code, but p0340 is the camshaft sensor or curcuit. This indicates that a problem was detected in the camshaft position sensor circuit. go to this site for more info. www.obd-codes.com/p0340, hope this helps!! good-day!!
P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
This indicates that a problem was detected in the camshaft position sensor
circuit. Since it says circuit, that means the problem could
lie in any part of the circuit - the sensor itself, the wiring, or the PCM.
Don't just replace the CPS (camshaft position sensor) and think that will definitely
fix it. Take it somewhere to get it checked out to see which of the above it is.
p0340 is a camshaft position sensor fault code..more than likely sensor is faulty..located on underside of right(pass) side cylinder head..a bolt holds sensor in place..you can get a sensor at your local dealer
