My 2005 Saturn Vue, AWD, automatic is suddenly hard to shift into gear. It's worse after it's been sitting. When moving the shifter, it makes a noise-like driving over rumble strips on the road. The problem first started after the car had been parked on an incline with the parking break set. When I went to put it in reverse, it gave a lot of resistance.
I got a brand new transmission 2 months ago.

The vibration is caused by the rotors being warped. Remove the front tires and check the front brake pads. Replace if needed. This is a pretty straight forward job. The rotors are "fall off" rotors and you won't need anything special tool wise.

There is a bearing that supports the dive shaft to the rear wheels. This bearing dries out with road grime and under car washes. Greasing the bearing eliminated the whistling
SOURCE: CLICKING NOISE
That is simply the mechanism that keeps your car from shifting unless you have the brake applied. It is louder than most vehicles, but that is one small sacrifice for good quality, cheaper car. The noise is normal.

I have a 2003 vue and had similar problem. I took it to my garage, and it was wheel bearings. I've had to replace both sets since I bought the vehicle. I found out that they tend to wear through wheel bearings. I also found out that they have strut issues as well.
