While driving the 2002 bmw 325i stopped running and will not start. It was low on fuel when it stopped. Could it be the fuel pump?

post a problem first, not a hunt for things not there.
let me guess engine cranks but does not start and run and stay running , right <must we beg?
is fuel pressure zero 0- or too low , not even measured/?
no starts short list of huge.
1: fuses blown. we test those first.
2; bad fuel. (old or diesel over gasoline put in).
3: pump is dead or FPR bad and fuel pressure crazy too low.
4: no spark the PCM cuts fuel if SPARK fails by law, so does. if did.
5: scan tool shows DTC errors you ignore, even cranked?
CRASH CONTROL MODULE , DETECTED CUTS FUEL INERTIA SWITCH.? what the logic does here, I have no clue, ask a German?
6: ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM LAMP SHOWS noT HAPPY/?

Turn your ignition to on BUT do Not engage the starter.You should hear the fuel pump running to put fuel to the carb,when the noise stops that means fuel is at he carb, then engage starter and see if starts easily.Do NOT touch the gas pedal.If it starts easily the only problem is that the fuel line is draining back down to the tank after it sits for a while.Not a big deal.

Fuel Pump - can you here the pump (usually under the right hand back seat) running with ignition on?
Fuel Delivery (injectors) - squirt some fuel (just a cap full) into the manifold.
Spark - pull a lead off a spark plug and use a spare spark plug resting on the exhaust manifold.
Crank sensor - Injectors won't inject fuel if the ECU thinks the engine isn't turning. Crank sensor is at the front right lower side and as it gets older, the wire gets brittle and breaks most of the time where it meets the hard end. The connector is under the throttle body and should read 500-600 ohms.

change the fuel pump relay it could be any one of the pins

Hello, I was driving my 2002 BMW 325i and at a stop light the back tail light come I check It and look like it had a short in the housing it just start to act weird, the lights on the dash came on emi, check engine, brake, the one in middle that's looks like a A with a circle round it.i disconnected the battery for about 10mins and they still come on, can anyone of you help. What to do

I suppose you fuel pump died.

Anyway the other reasons may be: Bad gazoline or any secrets in your car which block fuel pump from thefts.

You can Check the batter at an autozone and if it passes it could be your injecters that could be dirty, but its most likey the battery is at low charge

remove rear seat and look for plastic big round cap

Check idle air control valve. If functioning properly and next common problem from my experience is a BAD CRANK SENSOR. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA
